response time isn't what I'm talking about. I mean the time it takes between recieving the signal and displaying it, all the projectors I've seen would be late at least 3-4 frames which is intensive in a fighting game. This was about 2 years back so I'm wondering now if things have gotten better

I decided to pull the trigger on this projector, but when I called ProjectorCenter.com, the price was $1900. How did you get such a great price?

Call them and tell them that you know someone that got it there for $1695 I spoke to Jason.
Yeah, thats the guy I talked to. He wouldn't budge and they didn't have it in stock, so I ordered it from projector people. I should have it tommorrow.

damn looks like I got an awesome deal. :) Hope you like yours.
Yes, you got a great deal. Best I could do was $200 more, because no one that had it cheaper had it in stock. I didn't want to wait, because I had someone for my AE700u, and that would have left me without a projector for what could be months at your price.

I'll post a review after I've had some time with it. One thing I hate so far is that grid that pops up when you try to focus the thing. Please tell me theres a way to turn it off. I haven't RTFM yet.

I've never seen a delay in sending a signal with a projector, ever! What was your source when you were checking them out?

There is Delay in EVERY wire

If you hook up a card to two Diff LCDs u'll see what i'm talking about ,, ONE can be a frame or two above the other

So do you do your own movie voices during the pre-show commercials on the movies? ;)

In a world where Quasmo lives in HD-land...

Have you sent a 1080p signal to yours yet? I get static on mine when I send a 1080p signal. I'm hoping it's my cheap HDMI cable, and not the projector. I won't know for sure though until I get a new cable.

Yeah, I have an HTPC, and I send a 1080P signal to it. I have a good quality cable. The Xbox360 sends a 1080P signal too, and that looks good too.

I just jumped on the Mitsubishi HC4900 bandwagon. Not at the price Quasmo got it at, but then I am not Quasmo.

Welcome to the club! I can't say I'm totally happy with mine, because I can't send a 1080p signal yet. I'm pretty sure it's the cable, but I'll know for sure when it comes in tomorrow.

I also don't like the filter that it has. It's very cheap, and I fear getting dust blobs. Thats something I never experienced with my last 2 Panasonic projectors. My rep at pp said that Mitsubishi is working on a replacement filter, thats based on the one in the HC6000.
That screams to me that it should be a free replacement, but we will see.

The filter is a little weak.

I am probably going to build a custom air filter box then. 5 side with filter, couple it to the air intake. Should provide enough airfllow with 5 side intake.

Be sure to provide pics when you do. I'd like to see what it looks like.

My problem was indeed the HDMI cable, so I'm pretty pleased now. I plan on trying some filters later to see if I can improve on the black level. The one I had on my AE700 just doesn't work with the 4900. I can't understand why Mitsubishi didn't include threads on the lens, just for this.

well, a lightweight box with probably microfibre cloth as sides is my current idea. final design will depend on position of vent and how the mount works out.

as to filer, can't you just slap a cokin filter system on it?

I look forward to the pics of your design. As for the filter, theres really no place to attach a filter holder to the projector. If you come up with a way though, let me know.

I would not be attaching anything to the projector, rather to the projector mount with a boom to hold it in place. It's a light weight construct, coat hanger wire is probably strong enough. Maintaining seal is the biggest challenge unless I tension it from the other side.

I'll have to wait for your pics then, because I can't see how that would work.
