I do on the other hand have 1080i material that I deinterlace and it looks great. I'm using .ts files of Dexter (great show), and they look awesome. To make it clear how good this projector is. Before, with the AE700, you looked at the screen and knew it was a projector. With the new projector, you look closely, because it looks like a 120inch lcd screen on the wall. That's how good it is.

get a hd-dvd player, dirt cheap. Do post a review, I might be in the market for entry level 1080p pj.

The problem is, if I buy one, it's going to be for my HTPC. I want to buy a dual format player, but by that time I'll have put alot of use on this projector.

I'll have to upgrade my video card, mobo, ram, and cpu.

Currently I am using the low life mode and the standard brightness is almost too bright. The contrast ratio and colors are above and beyond that of the ae700 and the quality is very good. I do miss the ability to manual focus, zoom, and lens shift of the ae700, and there really isn't a keystone adjustment. I am completely satisfied with my purchase, and for the price think it's a damn nice investment.

Does that mean you can't manually focus or zoom? (or just that you can't lense shift)

How do you feel the black levels are compared to the AE700?

What it means is that I can no longer do those things manually. I can zoom, lens shift, and focus, but its all motor controlled.

The black levels are great. I really can't judge accurately right now as I am projecting on a beige wall. (Renting apartment and can't hang screen. But from what I've seen on the beige, I can distiguish alot more in the darker areas than I could of the AE700. When the review said that this thing was comparable to a 15000:1 contrast ratio they weren't kidding.

It'd be great if it was a ceiling mounted projector and I had no way of getting to the projector.

Damn, the bulbs for it are on the expensive side. I was so close to pulling the trigger until I saw that.

ProjectorCenter.com

Nevermind...I got ProjectorCentral and ProjectorCenter confused.

They're band new, so they haven't had time to saturate the market, but not only that but they last for 5000 hours on eco mode. That was a huge selling point for me. That's almost twice what my AE700 was.

The AE700 had bulb problems when it first came out. Many users had bulb failures before 500 hours were reached, and to top it off they had a shortage of bulbs, so you couldn't get a replacement for months.

I replaced my first bulb with a new one, when the first had 1500 hours, due to my fears of failure, and I'm over 4000 hours on the replacement.

I found a thread on the HC4900 over at avsforurms, and plan on reading it today.

I decided to pull the trigger on this projector, but when I called ProjectorCenter.com, the price was $1900. How did you get such a great price?

WOW, all this talk bout projectors is getting me goin, Was gonna get one before i got my wfp3007 but, now i'm psyched again since u mentioned the new price for one of these. One BIG question still thinking about is "DO projectors have lag on frames"? like it may just be 1/10 of a sec but that is important to me.

That's going to vary model by model rather than as a display type as a whole.

There are some good ones that are even geared specifically as gaming projectors.

The new panny AX200U is supposed to be really geared toward gaming. I have found that there really isn't much lag on my Mitsubishi (maybe 6-10ms, calibrating guitar hero) But in all reality it has to be pretty instant considering it has to keep up with the sound that is being played.
