I like Lisa Rubin but she's starting to believe her own press.

According to her, Trump is a stain on our nation. Girl, don't be giving us any of this virtual "we" shit unless you've got a mouse in your pocket. Trump might be a stain on our collective taint, but that's about it

Although, since he's facing 561 years in prison - Don't serve time, die.
 
I give you my personal guarantee on this. Once it's obvious, even to the Dumpster that he's not going to get elected again, he's going to find some rich coyote to take him to a non-extradition country. Maybe one of the old Soviet Bloc countries.

Sure, most of those places suck ass, but it's a whole f'ing lot better than being "ensconced" in an 8x10.

I just looked up the list and it seems that a lot of the Persian Gulf countries are non-ex. Still not my personal preference, but hey . . . .

You know, since I was raised when there was a Soviet Union, it's sort of de rigueur to have a low opinion of Eastern Euro countries, but you have to be willing to change your attitudes when the facts change.

A couple days ago, I watched the second ep of Rainn Wilson's (known for The Office) Geography of Bliss.

It took place in Bulgaria, supposedly the saddest country on the planet, even below Trashcanistan and Iran. I learned it's quite a beautiful country with lovely, interesting people. It seems once the USSR was gone, there was no reason to live in the country any more and those areas became ghost towns.

I would seriously consider living there if I knew the language. The one problem is all of medical issues. But that's another story.

I didn't mention it because of any personal opinion (either way) on the location. Merely because he already has property there, and it was a central focus of the Trump Org. for quite some time.
 
Something that most non-lawyer are probably not aware of.

I know this was true in NJ when I practiced and I'm assuming this is true in most jurisdictions.

Once you represent someone at an indictment, you're locked in. You can't just dump your client w/o court approval. I'm sure the extremity of the reasons required varies in various jurisdictions but in NJ, I remember it was next to impossible.

So the $40M that the Dumpster has already paid is, possibly, the result of multimillion retainer agreements, since we all know that Trump doesn't like to pay for things if he can get away with it. So a retainer of $5M or more is probably pretty common.

It's a shame there isn't more transparency here. Maybe there is but only print sources are willing to cover it.

edit - when I say "locked in," that means your law firm. Sometimes it might be down to you individually, but I probably did a couple dozen arraignments as an associate of my firm.
 
I just noticed something. In the new indictment, 5 of the 6 "co-conspirators" have been identified - and with a high enough degree of certainty, that the media is happy to use their names.

Now, if there are ethical or tort-oriented reasons for not doing that in the indictment, then Jack could be in some deep shit.

However, if something more, mmmm, let's say mundane, like determining when to toll the statute of limitations, then that makes sense.

Sometimes I wish cable new would go into the weeds on things like this a bit.
 
It's pretty clear that the Dumpster has already violated the conditions of his release. Why? IMO, he wants to get tossed in jail and I think he's already been told that this judge will do it.

He knows that's he's toast on pretty much all of these charges. In fact his lawyer, Lauro, has already admitted that he's guilty of the 4th count (denial of rights).

I didn't know this but if your lawyer makes what's called 'an admission against interest,' that's binding on the defendant. There's got to be some wiggle room there though because I would call that a 'due process' violation right there.

Anyway, the Dumpster is likely going to jail, but that's intentional. Before he goes to trial and gets convicted, he wants to see if his more rabid supporters will come to his rescue.

They won't. And once that happens, he's going to head for the exits, IMO.

If however, this is what happens, I see the following scenario.

First, Chutkan remands him. Then, either at the same time or later, she sentences him to say 60 days.

Next, the Dumpster plays the role of the "model prisoner." He'll beg and grovel and do whatever to get released.

THEN he heads for the exits.

It could be any of (but not limited to) the following :

1) they're cooperating
2) they're being indicted separately for tactical reasons (likely)
3) they're still working on #1

All signs point to it being tactical in order to speed up the case against Trump. I've not seen anyone suggest anything unethical or illegal about the decision.

I don't think he wants to go to jail for any length of time, but I do think he'll try to gin up sympathy from the rubes. Come election time though, it isn't going to widen his voter base. The only ones that will give sympathy are the idiots who would still vote for him no matter what.
 
@Pohemi - He's definitely doesn't like the idea of jail. He's intensely frightened by the idea - this according to multiple sources like Mike Cohen. So peeps that know him reasonably well all seem to be saying this.

Right now, he only has a few choices.

One is "rabbit" now, which he won't do because he doesn't have to. Also, I don't know what his SS complement is like. Are these folks where the dumpster has gotten into their heads already? Because if so, those are the sort of people that will risk their lives for him and help get him out of the country.

The other problem is US Intelligence can't let him rabbit. Unless he's lobotomized, he still knows shit. But given how careful Intell agencies were when he was in office, maybe that's not a serious concern.

I just don't know and I don't have the experience to make good guesses. At the same time, don't be lulled into complacency by the talking heads. The Dumpster seems to be something of an idiot savant regarding methods of evasion.
 
Getting back to Christie. The latest Reuters/IPSOS poll has him at zero. But we've all learned the hard way that they tend to be part truth, and part fiction. So my previous excitement about CC was probably misplaced.

That said, I'm still watching him. And the more he bangs on the dumpster, the more air time and the better his numbers.

Iowa is a pretty red state but NH less so, so I think he can pull enough votes there to get more coverage.

Sometimes, I just want both of them to go home. Weird interactions in that relationship. They tend to show up whenever they want to. I only watch to see Joe go off on Trump. But, NEVER FORGET he still falls back on his Clinton memes and Mika nods her head. It's just weird.

"Weird" doesn't really do it justice. Have you seen some of their advertising still pics? Replace Mika looking lovingly at Joe with a canine and it still works. Plus, it won't creep you the fuck out.

I can see them belonging to a death cult and hunting prostitutes at night.
 
I almost wish I were still in practice. Trump has become a one man, full-employment act for lawyers.

I also was a bus driver in my yute. 32ft campus bus. It was always fun to come around corners and see the occasional person looking up in terror.

edit - no shortage of lawyers yet but a school bus driver shortage.
 
Rachel Maddow cracks me up. Her lede in tonight was Conan Doyle SH story called Silver Blaze. But everyone remembers it as "the dog that didn't bark" story.

So how did she tie that in to current events? The Trump protesters who didn't bark. Before NY and Miami, he was fairly begging peeps to come out and protest and zip, nada. Repeat after me Dumpster - I am a f'ing loser, loser, loser.
 
BTW, the latest Iowa poll (from a pollster with a good record of presaging Iowa voter behavior) has Crispy Christie at 5% - up from barely 1% just a month ago.

My memory is often lacking but I think those new 4% came from both Trump and deSatanist.

IK, IK. 5% isn't shit. But point is that the rats are jumping off of the ship (any similarities between Trump supporters and rats is purely coincidental) - both ships. So whomz can motor boat in fast enough to pick them up?
 
Wow. I'm feeling old. For the several years I was in practice at a variety of jobs, everything was done analog. One of my "legal" jobs was to write programs for HP 14C financial calculator. That was about as automated as things got unless you wanted to pay for Lexis/Nexus.

Now, 14M pages of discovery is just a nose ahead of mundane.
 
As someone who used to have to visit the firm's clients in jail, just going thru the "air locks" of a high security prison is some scary shit.
