the park opens at 10am and closes at 11pm. people will want to be in line and ready to get to their favorite ride to avoid long lines later... would you want to meet before the park opens? or at a particular ride? the force? dragster? lunch around 1 or 2 is my suggestion. dont know where... i usually drink pop/water all day and bring a cooler lunch to eat in the parking lot.

I have been reviewing the website and talking with the wife, she is excited to meet all of you, about our day at Cedar Point. I thought out the following schedule for our day together.

We can meet at the Midway Carousel just after the main gate at 10:15-10:30. After a short meet and greet we can head out in to the park on your own or in small groups. I don?t think we all want to ride the same rides or see the same shows.

We can meet for lunch at 1-1:30 pm at the Midway Market. The Midway Market is a all you can buffet style restaurant and the price is very reasonable, around $12 per person I think. If you choose to pack a lunch there are a couple of pavilions near by the Midway Market. After lunch we again can head out on our own or in small groups if you like.

I thought we could meet one last time around 6:00 pm at the center of the park, near Coasters or the Sky Ride. We could break for dinner, continue going on rides, or plan a final meeting or goodbye time at this point. Since some of us might not stay until the park closes this would be a good time to say our final goodbyes or plan a later meeting time.

Please let me know what you think about this plan.

Thanks,
Quixfire

Sounds fine with me...we can fine-tune it when it gets closer to the date anyway. Let's be really geeky and have a collective GBA game to play while we wait in line. I haven't done something ubergeeky like that in years. :)

Would it be possible to get a list of a rough region where people are coming from? I know that I'll probably be on my own, so I'd look to share a ride with someone. I'd chip in for gas and whatnot of course.

Sweet, date set. Now gotta put this on a calendar somewhere. So what time should you get to the park at? Can you pre-order tickets, or must you wait in line? If we all go as a group, are there group rates or something? How long is the ride from Long Island, NY, like 7-8 hours? Just gotta get the basic questions out there so I can try and plan this out.

Good idea, I think we should all make a list of locations, that way maybe we could get carpools going or something. I'm from Oceanside, NY, thats in Nassau County on Long Island. Depending on what time we need to get there, I figured I might go the day before and stay overnight at a hotel or something, just because of the time it takes to get there from me.

Let's only mess with group rates if the amount is actually worth it, if it's a couple bucks, no point in all the pain of collecting fees, sending fees, meeting up outside the place to give tickets or mailing them, etc.

Also, how about getting there earlier? If we're there when it opens we can get on rides before they get long lines

Well, I figured if we go for the group rate, not necessarily for the discount, but then we can get the tickets earlier.

Well, the website says the following:

For a group between 15-149 people, each ticket is $32, as opposed to the gate price of $43.95, giving you a saving of roughly $12. That is pretty considerable...multiplied over 25 people, that's $300 saved.

Now, I know that there are always those "bring a Pepsi can" discounts and AAA offers cheaper tickets too, so if someone could find the best discount, that'd be great.

I dunno about you, but I'd rather get everything somewhat finalized now, because everyone who would be coming has expressed interest. Even if some people decide later on they want to come, they can still buy tickets. Since we already have more than enough for a group rate, I say we go for it, and start organizing this thing as soon as possible.

Agreed. If things were finalized I could make sure to take off work in advanced. :)

Duly noted, I'll start working out ticket pricing for a group of 23+ and I'll also need to know how many of you are planning to spend the night in Sandusky to work on a group hotel rate if necessary.

Not commited just yet. I'm in the "maybe" camp.:) I love Cedar Point, but I'm not sure I can make it out this summer.

why doesnt this thread have a sticky????

anyways, any of us can get discounted tickets for Cedar Point through a credit union, so thats not a big deal. The hard part will be getting a deal on the hotel. We need an accurate head count so we can reserve the rooms in advance.

And rooms close to the park in Sandusky are pretty expensive. Any discounts would be helpful.

Count me in for the hotel beforehand.
