yeah, I wonder....

But he did do the exact same thing, back during the Iran Contra scandal, iirc. --wrote a rather dubious opinion on the nature of illegally trading arms with out enemies (or something like that--lol I forget the details), and made that public before any official decisions could be made during those hearings. He provided a defense argument based on what he then knew to be specifically false claims, that were later revealed to be absolutely false, but he did it anyway because he knew that the only story that "matters" is the first one. The people will simply forget or just not care that he was intentionally lying in order to defend illegal activity all along...because he got away with it.

It's weird how humans work.

But he did that. And he did the exact same thing with the Mueller report. I mean, just look at the interpretation from the GOP and all of their supporters: they believe an entirely different conclusion about the Mueller report from what it specifically and unambiguously claimed, all because Barr intentionally misconstrued it once ahead of release, then again in an unprecedented press conference prior to the "redacted" release. He did this twice. Specifically, and strategically.

He knows he was lying about it. He knows that the Mueller report very specifically condemned Trump with up to 10 counts of obstruction that deserve serious investigation and likely prosecution.

He knew that. Trump knew that. All of the ghouls in the administration knew that. But they also knew that their supporters wouldn't give a fuck as long as they got the lie that made them feel most comfortable, first.

Could the White House ignore the judges order to release the unredacted report to him? If they do then what? AFAIK courts don't go to other courts to resolve disputes. AFAIK defendants can't refuse a judges order.

Presumably they could hold anyone in contempt other than Trump, but I don't think Trump is the only one physically holding the documents. If a court tells the White House to release it, someone's gotta physically grab the documents and hand them over, and they aren't protected like Trump is.

I think it's this guy. He probably reports to Mulvaney. He would be the one held in contempt. Then what go to White House and arrest? Trump will try to stall until after election.

I mean, yeah, send the court constable to round him up, issue a warrant and send the normie police, whatever. I'm tired of people thinking that enforcement is just a suggestion unless you're poor.

He betrayed his oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, Trump obviously being one of them. It's just a piece of paper, right?

The documents are actually held by the DoJ.

If it came down to a judge ordering them turned over I bet Barr would destroy records and say so what. I'm the the DOJ head and I'm not going to prosecute myself and Trump won't order it.

Then what? It all may sound silly but we have now come to this. I hope Bob Mueller kept a copy.

Barr won't give up anything unless the SCOTUS orders him to do so. I think the federal Judiciary also holds the records from the grand jury, as well.

To be fair, its on the people a good amount as those Republicans openly admitted they didn't even read a single fucking thing in the report before declaring that it totally exonerated Turmp, look Barr just said so and Turmp says it too!

If Barr lied, then prosecute him according to whatever laws he broke.

I don't really care what Barr said either way. All I care about is what's in the report.

The AG probably won't be prosecuting himself. That's the beauty of Trump having a lying sycophant in the position. And if you care aboutt what's in the report, then you've probably read it, yes? The parts that Barr hasn't redacted, obviously.

Yes, I have a copy of the report. Is there something specific on a specific page you'd like to discuss?

Or are we just going to wave our pitch forks and torches and scream that Trump is the devil, sating our emotional irrationalities?

Then post the report.

If you read the link in the OP the judge thought it warranted an unredacted version of the report

So post it.

There's apparently a lot Judge Walton wants to discuss given that Barr's remarks never matched the text of the report from the beginning. This is nothing new. That obvious fact has led Judge Walton to question the legitimacy of the redactions entirely & to have the full report provided to him for review.

If theres something I've learned over the last 4 years its DONT overthink this.
Trump and his team get away with this shit every time because the American people have been brainwashed, NOT because they are
Because he though he could keep it hidden until it didn't matter.

Occam's Razor dude. Barr is corrupt
Yeah if there's something I've learned over the last 4 years its DON'T overthink this.
Trump and his team get away with this shit every time because the American people have been brainwashed, NOT because they are great liars. Everything they've done is so incredibly obvious. They just realized it doesn't matter. They can get away with practically everything, no need for elaborate schemes and coverups anymore. The horrifically failed impeachment should have made that obvious to everyone by now.

That's a pretty...damning comment.

but of course the chuds will point out to us that, at no time in this request did Judge Walton say, specifically, "I call out Attorney General William Barr for lying about the Mueller Report!" so hahaha fuckyou libtardspwnt!

and so it will go.

Does it really matter though? Trump can do pretty much whatever he wants and I question the Dems ability to beat him come November. I hope they can and "anybody but Trump" pulls it off.

I don't understand why Barr would do something so incredibly stupid. The report was to be handed over to the house, why lie about it's contents?

Why should Barr or the Administration care? They are as immune to true accountability (and elections are NOT that) as any king of old or despot you could name.

The Nazis couldn't have been done better with their propaganda.

But as a defendant you can't refuse a judges order and state I'm going to appeal your order to SCOTUS. Again, Barr just wants to stall this out until after the election
