This country is getting worse by the minute. This is an obscene result. Not even negligent homicide?

The jury was hung on the more serious manslaughter charge but then whiffed on the lesser charge? Sounds like there were one or two sociopath jurors that were simply not going to charge him with anything, so they all said fuck it, let's get home for the holidays.

Whatever happened this is a miscarriage of justice.

LOL get your head out of your ass and observe the neighborhood around you!

NIMBY Liberals are sick of the criminals/ druggies/ migrants running wild and attacking us in the streets/ subways and stealing shit around here at will.

THEY WANT THEIR NYC BACK -- where it's fun to go out and if anything they have personally made it their mission in life to let vigilantes off easy for doing them a favor!

NYC has always been NIMBY Liberal country.. not YIMBY. That's what you don't understand about us.. you might need to move somewhere else if you want YIMBY neighbors!

And don't be surprised if we end up having a Republican mayor and governor soon.. the City and state sent a message and chose Ghouliani and Bloomberg and Pataki when they didn't like Dinkins and Cuomo's YIMBYism. And your neighborhood chose Chris Christie and what was her name.. Meg Whitman??

NYC is one of the safest big cities in the country. It’s right wing propaganda to suggest the subways are awash in crime 24x7

Not according to New Yorkers who are getting slashed and stabbed or thrown on the tracks to get run over by trains.

People are worried enough they take ubers now but that hurts their bottom line.. they grew up with the subway and want their subway safety.

They don't like criminal gangs running wild assaulting them, stealing their phones and their data for the phone to end up in Venezuela or somewhere.

Good luck convincing them they're safe when their mind is made up with the opposite. In fact I'll go so far as to say lecturing and ignoring the problem with "NYC IS THE SAFEST CITY ACCORDING TO STATS" will backfire.. majorly!

The only person that needs to move is you and every New Yorker that thinks like you. Move to be near people who are more like your sociopathic bloodlusting wackjob brain. If you think someone deserves to be killed scot-free for basically being poor and a public nuisance, you are not the kind of person to build a civilized society around. So my suggestion is move next door to Greenman or Squirrel, you are way more alike than you think, you are bringing the quality of the city down. It's just sickening.

Yeah if there’s one thing New York is known for it’s not allowing…uhmmm…dense housing construction.

Also from your post you don’t seem to understand what YIMBYism is as New York was not constructing a ton of new housing in the 80s or anything.

In my experience NIMBYs here are the same as anywhere else. They tend to be incumbent property owners who benefit from preventing new housing construction. It causes massive suffering for others but they don’t care.

My kingdom for a time machine where I can zap somebody back to the idealized era of their choosing for a year.

No time machine needed. The place I moved to is very much like the Bay area burbs in 1977. Really pleasant place to live.

You moved to the worst state in the country by basically every metric and love it because you have money. No different than an expat moving to some enclave in Central America and saying "Hey what problems? Everything seems fine to me."

Let's just say that your ability to be objective here is somewhat limited at best.

Maybe but that's your problem and you can't make me move.

I see indus is back to the roving gangs of immigrant shopping cart mafias.

I'm fine with immigrants.. sometimes I hire em.. but the shopping cart mafia pisses me off yes.

1 ‘NYC is drowning in a crime wave that the demonRATS won’t do anything about!’

2 -Indus’s super right wing retired cop neighbor

3 Indus if you want to go after crime in NYC it starts at home by cleaning out the NYPD.

point 1: sounds like Laura Ingram on Fox or something.. but considering NYC city council wanting to give away more of our tax dollars to hotel owners to house and feed migrants.. I'm starting to agree.

point 2: nope no cops around me.. not since the guy left his wife for a young latina in the bronx and that was 1996.. his ex wife is a cool neighbor though.. she's thinking of moving to Floriduh

point 3: touche

The problem is also billionaires. They are driving prices up with their extreme excess wealth.

We need to tax the shit out of them to fund Universal Basic McDonalds for all Americans.

It is indeed the worst state in the nation, what's odd is that no one around here seems to know it.
I do live in the second richest county in the state, good schools, low crime, no homeless that I've ever seen, no trash on the streets, no drug addict's panhandling at intersections. The only city around here that appears to have any those problems is Southaven, right on the Tennessee border next to Memphis.
My neighbors are all good people. They smile and wave, and are never in to much of a hurry to stop and chat.
I wish everyone could live in such a lousy place.

The people around you are probably like you and are insulated from it.

This isn't really addressing his point. What you have done is basically the same thing US expats do when they move to third world countries where they are vastly richer than the surrounding population. You can really up your quality of life in this way.

As for the state as a whole let's look:
Highest poverty rate in the nation
Worst life expectancy in the nation
Second lowest educational attainment in the nation
Nearly 45% of state revenues come from federal aid

So basically Mississippi is an incredibly poor, short lived, poorly educated state that's utterly dependent on aid from other places. Not sure why you would wish such a nightmare on the rest of us but I will pass, haha.

Kinda reminds me of the random mansions you see in rural areas, every other house is dilapidated and barely standing but then there will be some random new mansion, sure that guy thinks things are great where he lives too.

I wished that everyone could have the same good life that I enjoy, and in your desperate need to to repudiate anything I might say you attempt to divert that into a negative. How fucked up is your life that you can't accept simple well wishes without going off on a tangent?
I kind of feel sorry for you, being that defensive can't be much fun.
