I'll remember that when I'm at my next board meeting...
What the hell impact do we fans have on the decisions of the school?
Our job is to support the team.
When your school lies and cheats you criticize it vociferously. You write letters to the administration. Feel free to dig up my comments from when Michigan sleazed Rodriguez out of West Virginia in an entirely inappropriate manner. There were many people in Ann Arbor writing similar sentiments at the time, and I know indirectly at least that there was a major movement by donors to clean house. It was embarrassing for the school. It took a few years, but now he's gone and so is the scumbag AD who hired him.
All I've seen out of Columbus in the wake of far more egregious behavior is unwavering support of a hypocritical coach whose history is replete with shady activity and outright cheating. Your AD looks like a total buffoon to everyone in the country and your school's President sounds even more idiotic. FFS, when you're the President of a major Tier 1 research university, you do not joke about the football coach being your boss - OSU is one of the nation's biggest research universities first and foremost. If you think football makes OSU a lot of money, go look up how much it takes in from private, state, and federal research grants. It's not as visible to the public as the football team, but the numbers are quite staggering. Gee's very involvement in this mess has been bizarre and illustrates a wacky set of priorities.
Even now, your school's leadership has gone from having Tressel resign and pay a quarter mil fine to having him 'retire' so he doesn't pay the fine and can continue to collect benefits - on the Ohio taxpayer's dime - despite insisting weeks ago that he would be held accountable for his actions.
Stay classy.
