Whoa whoa whoa. Pryor is leaving early? I thought his eligibility for the bowl game was contingent upon a pledge to return for the next season in order to face suspension? This is so shocking! 😉

/ncaa is a joke

LSUfreek, yet again

well, he made that pledge to Tressel so I'm sure, given the circumstances, he feels no longer obligated to keep that pledge

yeah, the NCAA is a joke, which is what made South Park's crack baby episode such a riot

what would be the point of staying? He's likely gonna be suspended forever given all the new info that has turned up.

Ohio President Gordon Gee says AD Gene Smith's "job is safe:"

So, how long before he 'resigns?'

They aught to get rid of the AD and all his people too.

Called it over a week ago. The only real question anymore is how many people on the college board will resign over this. This is the kind of thing that requires complicity all the way to the top. The Big Ten should look into removing Ohio State imnsho.

But he made a pledge!

The point is, everyone knew it was a sham when it all went down for the bowl game and now it's most certainly proving to be a sham.

I really think those guys playing in that bowl game is going to come back to haunt OSU because the NCAA knows in retrospect how stupid it makes them all look. I doubt they like being made to look stupid. (Well, any more than usual that is)

OSU should have to give back the money from the bowl game or get the Death Penalty for the 2011-2012 season. Seems fair to me.

I'd ask it the other way - what is the point of leaving?

If Pryor leaves he no longer need cooperate with any additional NCAA investigations. They do not have subpeana power etc. This is good for the university and him.

I suspect this is what's going to happen:
Tressel's career as a coach at any level in any capacity is over, except for maybe prison league or high school. No more books about Jebus and integrity, either, unless it's some inane 'I hath sinned' shit that'll get gobbled up by die-hard OSU fans. (Pardon my flippancy, but the only thing worse than a hypocrite is a religious hypocrite.)

Pryor is done. He will not play next season, and unless some NFL team wants him as a backup, he won't play the year after next, either.

Wisconsin and Michigan State are now the '10 Big Ten champions, because OSU will be vacating every single win from last season, including their win over Arkansas. So Tressel remains winless against the SEC in bowl games, haha. I'm less certain that the NCAA will force them to vacate wins from previous seasons, though that depends on what they turn up with Pryor's eight cars in three years investigation. OSU could very well be vacating every single game he played in.

OSU will be facing scholarship reductions and a bowl ban for at least one year. I would not be at all surprised if they face scholarship reductions and bowl bans for two years. Regardless, expect to see them lurk at less than .500 in the Big Ten for at least two years.

So far, I'm 3/4, ha ha ha... Burn, Buckeyes, burn!

As a UW Husky fan, I can't wait to see Chip Kelly and Oregon go down next. There is a lot of shady stuff coming out of Eugene these days, which isn't surprising to anyone in Husky land.

I think you'll be 4/4 within a few months. Although the NCAA moves v e r y s l o w.

Anyway, by OSU's own admission, they are now back to winless vs. the SEC.

I'm excited for the season to begin.
New coach and second stringers for the first 5 games will actually make the season more exciting.
Hell, maybe Fickell will be less conservative than Tressel in his play calls.

Me too!

I'm going to the Colorado game this year - one of those classic B1G - Pac12 matchups 🙂

53 wins, 18 losses, and 5 ties vs. the Wisconsin Badgers (includes 2010 loss)

Enjoy our dark moment, temporary though it may be. I'll take comfort knowing Wisconsin could win the next 30 meetings and still not be even with us.

While he is using Bucky Badger as his avatar I believe he is a Michigan fan first and foremost (undergrad in Michigan iirc), that's why he's like that 🙂

Btw, I'll take that win for the next 30 meetings. Thanks 😀

Right. I'll take comfort knowing that OSU would have to resort to fielding semi-professional athletes to beat the Wolverines for the next 15 years to catch up to us. And your paid players couldn't even beat the Badgers last year, could they?

Ha, ok, now it makes sense. Originally I hesitated to take that shot because I don't usually get that kind of angst from Wisconsin fans. And I respect Wisconsin and Barry Alvarez (Bielema bugs me).

Ann Arbor is a whore. And is it brave or stupid to be taking shots when your just coming out of the glorious Rich Rodriquez era? Michigan cheated and still couldn't win.

I like Brady Hoke. I hope he can turn things around for Michigan; the rivalry is more fun when it's competitive. And Brady Hoke, like Schembechler before him, is a good Ohio boy.

...And Columbus is a boring shithole. Why do you think Michigan has such a stellar record of recruiting top talent from athletes and coaches from Ohio?

And there's a slight difference between sloppy record keeping and minor infractions like extra practice time and paying your players. That's why your Bucknuts have lost Tressel's only bowl win against the SEC, your share of the Big Ten Championship, your win streak against Big Blue, and the grudging respect of the entire conference - whereas Michigan got a stern talking to. As I've said many times in this thread already, keep dodging and weaving and sniveling while the Horseshoe burns down around you.

If you like a competitive rivalry, here's a hint: don't turn a blind eye and ignore major rules violations by your coach when he's facilitating pay for play schemes at the collegiate level. Oh wait, before you did that, you got pounded into the turf for a decade, and we didn't resort to hiring players to do it.

Everyone knows OSU dominates the Big10. Why is it even a question?
It should be fun this year though, since the playing field should be a little more even.

I'll remember that when I'm at my next board meeting...
What the hell impact do we fans have on the decisions of the school?

Our job is to support the team.
