So the Jews inside Iran are suffering because they cannot talk positively about Israel in the open???

I never said that.

You are an idiot and for your information The Jewish leader of Parliament openly said the president of Iran was an idiot for calling the Holocaust a myth. So much for him being "restricted" on what to say. I was simply going on a "what if" analysis.

source please?

That is Iran's old President

IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF THE IRANIAN PRESIDENT HATES OR LIKES JEWS. HE DOESN'T CONTROL THE LAWS OF IRAN

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I...ision_of_the_Holocaust

"Iran's sole Jewish member of parliament, Maurice Motamed, said that: "Holding this conference after having a competition of cartoons about the Holocaust has put a lot of pressure on Jews all over the world and it can give nations and governments a very negative impression of Iran."[10] Motamed also said "The conference has upset Iran's 25,000-strong Jewish community",[12] and an unidentified former senior government official said "Such conferences should not be held."[12]"

He sure sounds outraged.

"...has put a lot of pressure on Jews all over the world and it can give nations and governments a very negative impression of Iran."
sounds pretty restrictive and is a far cry from calling the president an idiot

Aimster, you are a joke. I'm not even going to bother with your nonsense. You have the stubbornness of a Jew and the logic of an Iranian propaganda artist. I won't waste any more time with you, you are a little kid who puts "i win" and "go cry" at the end of his posts. I'll sink to your level if I continue this nonsense.

1979 the Islamic Republic of Iran was not in power. There was a revolution.
There was violence in the streets.

The rich got out. The Jews were rich they escaped. The wealthy Muslims escaped

The poor people came in and took control. So none of those Jews who escaped lived under an Islamic regime. They escaped when the streets were full of blood.

Another Wikipedia article
I am going to create a wikipedia article stating you are an idiot and I am going to make a thread about it and claim it as a legitimate source.

The Islamic Revolution of 1979, made Shariat the legal code and therefore gender and religious discriminations are an integral part of the system. Bahai once again are not recognized at all, Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians each have one representative in the Parliament and are not legally forbidden from employment in the government sector. But since the authorities only employ Muslims and a ?Shariat test? is required, in reality these people are once again barred from working for the government. Like Bahaies it was very difficult for them to leave Iran for a decade after the revolution and restrictions still apply. They are accepted into Universities, but are not given access to post graduate studies, though no law prohibits them. Their monetary transactions are monitored closely to make sure no money is sent out. There were 85000 Iranian Jews before 1979, almost three-quarter have immigrated mainly to USA. The largest exodus since Darius? time when 30,000 left joyfully to rebuild their temple. Their departure this time has not been a happy one!

Please bury this ridiculous thread. Aimster seems to believe that official policy is a benchmark for what actually takes place. As this thread progressed, we continued to see him ignore more and more points made by members, as they rip his arguments to shreds one by one. Then once he is addressed about ignoring those points he resorts to attacking the source, even though the source he started with was nothing more than anecdotal evidence.

By criticizing your source he has put the final nail in his argument's coffin. He will never address the issue you brought up. He will just pretend that the Jews in his source are more reliable than then Jews in your source and, as expected by his predictable behavior, will make follow-up post claiming just that - that way he gets the final word in the argument and a false sense that he has somehow won his ridiculous debate to uphold anecdotal evidence. It will end with "I win" or "Go Cry"

Aimster, the next post is your's. The coffin is sealed so why don't you go ahead and start putting some dirt on it by replying.

The rest of you, Go Laugh.

I know I said I would stop by you made me realize I forgot to mention something. You see those bracketed numbers in the quotes I pulled out of the wiki article? Those are citations. You can follow them if you click the link. But that is besides the point because even if there were no citations an article on wikipedia is far greater evidence than anecdotal evidence you provided. And just for the record, if I had a scanner I would scan an NY Science Times article I have saved that explains that Wikipedia is as accurate as any other encyclopedia and sometimes even more accurate.

As you can see you directed the debate from the political climate in Iran to the accuracy of sources. You did this by ignoring the points that other users have made and so this is all that is left - a debate about accuracy that is drivin by someone who relied on anecdotal evidence. I'll quit now and because there is no limit on how many posts an Anandtech Forms member can make. You will make a follow up post and you will "win." Just remember this: In the Special Olympics everyone is a winner. I'm off to let you shovel your own dirt.

I feel a bit embarrassed now that I even dragged on this far with this nonsense.

I don't care what articles say about Jews inside Iran.

I have quotes from Jews inside Iran and outside Iran.

millions of people say crap about people in the U.S. Who is more accurate? Their little articles or our voices?
Hmm..

"Jews here have great Iranian roots ? they love Iran," says chairman Moresadegh. "Personally, I would stay in Iran no matter what. I speak in English, I pray in Hebrew, but my thinking is Persian."

Freud was once asked to sign a document by the Gestapo stating he was treated respectfully. At the end he wrote: ""I can heartily recommend the Gestapo to anyone.""

In the article below we reported that last year President Ahmadinejad said (quoting the late Ayatollah Khomeini) that Israel should be "wiped off the map". A more literal translation of the statement he made in 2005, at The World without Zionism conference in Tehran, is "the regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time".?

let me translate:

"vanish from the page of time" = as time further progresses the regime will no longer exist.

"must" = The key word is must which is an auxiliary noun. That means action must be taken for this to happen.

What kind of action can someone take to cause a regime of an independent nation to vanish? Take a guess.

When putting it all together what was said was simply a euphemism for "Israel must be destroyed". The initial international response to the statement was correct.

Iran?s Ex President says Holocaust is NOT a myth
BBC
?President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad brought international criticism when he called the Holocaust a "myth" last year.
Mr Khatami said the Holocaust was a "massacre of innocent people, among them many Jews", Iran media reported.
?He added: "We should speak out if even a single Jew is killed. Don't forget that one of the crimes of Hitler, Nazism and German National Socialism was the massacre of innocent people, among them many Jews."

All that means is that he likes contradicting himself. You buy into propaganda too much. Does dressing up British captives in suits make the Iranian regime nice guys?

mohammad khatami contradicted himself? how?

you're talking out of your ass, dude...

I misread what you said. I though this was a new quote from Ahmadenejad. I'm sure Jews in Iran are thrilled that Ahmadenijad invited all of the worlds most prominent nazi-sympathizers to deny the genocide of their people. They must be thrilled to live in Iran under a government that doesn't show any bias to any specific ethnic groups.

they don't care. do you know why? because no one gives a fuck. ahmadinejad doesn't speak for iranians. no one likes him. he's an embarrassment. the jews in iran live JUST like everyone else. no one persecutes them or treats them differently for being jewish.

why don't you get it yet?

Iranian Jews can't serve in the Iranian military. This is a tragedy. I am sure they are all dying to serve under the military of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Muslims in Iran have to illegally pay someone $10,000 just to get out of the mandatory 2-year service while the Jews don't have to do a thing.

Prove that the Iranian Parliament speaker isrequired by law to support all Iranian foreign policy
State Department's Website is not a source, lol. Even if it was correct, what the f does this have to do with the daily life of an Iranian Jew inside Iran. "oH god another day inside Iran where my parliamentary speaker is required by law to not support Israel. I'm going to go cry cause now I can't debate this on ATOT-Iran.com with my friends"

Jews only newspaper was shutdown in Iran? What about the tens of thousands of Iranian newspapers shutdown every single year? There is not a single newspaper that is anti-government inside Iran.
Jews don't have their own newspaper and neither do the tens of millions of Iranians who hate the govt. This clearly shows that the Iranian govt. is out to massacre the Jews and only the Jews.

Jews are placed under surveillance inside Iran? Really? You should tell that to the Jews who say they travel to and from Israel "with no problems at all". Of course I guess your little State Department website knows more about the Jews inside Iran than they do. Plus it's not like the Iranian govt. doesn't watch over their general Muslim population. They are free to do whatever they want, right?

There is no Iranian Law that states Jewish private schools have to be run by Muslim principals

The Jews inside Iran clearly said there is hardly any discrimination yet you continue to post your stupid State Department website quotes

Iranian Jews left Iran because they had money and they left in 1979-1981. Of course you like to act like an idiot and don't seem to realize this.

All you have is the State Department's Website. Eve n so everything you listed above Happens with Muslims . Go cry.

Have you posted a single link!?

wow man... I had expected much more from you and your infamous college degree. I highly suggest you return and attend at least one class in logic, reason, or debate. Most reputable schools will offer those...

That said, your entire rebuttal was once again adolescent and anecdotal in nature. The gist of your entire argument has been "The Jews in Iran are only slightly more oppressed than every other Iranian. And, since most of the oppressive laws against them don't effect too many of them, who cares dude?!"

I've made my points... you've been completely owned... so I'll leave you now with your persistent delusions.

g'day.

Yah Aimster, make sure you get a degree on debate before you can argue on ATOT. It's a pre-requisite......

There's something else going on here other than this debate - and I don't think I want to know what it is...

This has the makings for a hundred years war.
