I always hand sharpen my pencils! The Companion's carbon. I actually lost the one in the pic, but replaced it with the same thing. I gave the first one the vinegar treatment, but didn't on the second. I don't notice much difference between them after a few months of use. I wear one every day for work, and it's used almost every day. Maybe just sharpening a pencil, or maybe a makeshift machete, but it always gets used.

Pasta is poverty food. The only function of pasta is to add empty calories to the stuff that tastes good and is better for you. Skip the pasta and eat the good parts. Arguing about pasta is like arguing about store brand sandwich cookies: even people on Jerry Springer had more pride.

Reminds me of a past experience @ work. I was in my work station putting spheres in rings to turn them in to ball bearings and was absorbed in doing this ... when a sphere thrown from two assembly lines over from a coworker doing the same work i was doing struck my work table and startled me immensely ...

I then "returned the favor" by throwing a sphere of the ones i was using (9.525mm) high in to the air ... and it ended right smack in the dude that threw @ me a sphere first's head ... he never threw spheres @ me again ...

Not a moving target like this, but still ... quite accurate ...

That's really cool, but a 728ton pendulum swinging in a building doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. If I saw that, I think I'd have to gtfo.
I wonder what is the total mass of the building, i.e. what fraction of the building is in that pendulum?

Nevertheless, heavy should stay close to earth.

All those mentioned are insipid tasteless crap. Egremont Russets, Cox's Pippens or (if those are out-of-season) Granny Smiths are the only apples worthy of the name.
Agree, I don't know the cultivars you mention, but the modern industrial types are mostly just sweet without much aromatic flavor, I prefer more acid and aroma.
