Even easier way to tell. Just watch the reaction, or more tellingly, the lack of reaction of the person holding the camera. He/She is inches from a supposedly violent altercation and doe not move one iota. Stays perfectly still and keeps everything in frame. A REAL person filming a real assault would step back when the assailant bumps into him just one second after tossing a guy over a counter. But nope, not even a tiny flinch.

The people who believed that was real probably think Spongebob Squarepants is real.
There’s a reason for that.

You do realize the the cameraman is supposedly “the assailant’s” friend who was expecting a confrontation but wasn’t expecting that, right? Watch his reaction in that context.

Yeah, okay. Do you realize that the cameraman is actually a Time Lord who provoked the whole thing to gather intelligence on someone who will be the ruler of the galaxy 50 years from now, right? Watch it in that context.

Well that adds a whole new dimension to the video. It's all so clear now.

Well, I did suggest using your imagination, but that was in the context of seriously answering the question. I guess I misjudged your collective abilities toool for rational explanations, Internet.

The difference is that one is the premise given in the original video where the so-called “assailant” claims that the so-called “victim” first cut him off. If you asked them the question that they already have an answer for then it’s you who and the whole “whyweretheyfilming” subreddit that looks like idiots.

All of the context clues are there. It isn’t even remotely comparable to this “Time Lord” deflection.

As I expressed earlier, I also have my doubts about the video but, so far, Occam’s Razor is on the side of this being real. The questions raised by “whyweretheyfilming” are easily answered but the other questions aren’t.

To conclusively say that it is fake requires you to explain how it’s more likely for the McD’s to be complicit or faked. Are the witnesses extras? Did they use special effects to avoid injuring each other and damaging equipment or did they genuinely collude to do this unexpectedly with no regards for their own safety? Is it seriously more likely than “friend records friend re-asserting his place in line with a clueless line-breaker after deliberately waiting until it was time to order?” Sounds like a situation that perfectly explains “why they were filming” to me. My continued doubts have nothing to do with that question and neither should yours... or anyone’s.

Wow. Such a long-winded and childish explanation grasping at straws so that you can still go on believing in spite of the evidence that you discard because you so clearly and desperately WANT to believe. Sorry, Mulder, the truth is out there and it's not good for your side.

Occam's Razor suggests it's fake, not real. To wit, how many people are out these making fake videos to try to become internet celebrities versus how many people are actually tossed over the counter of a McDonalds in perfect cinematography from a person holding a phone cam?

And you're completely, 100% bassackward on the duty to prove that it's conclusively fake. That's proving a negative. The onus is in the desperate wannabeliever (you) to prove it's real. Got any actual witnesses? A police report for assault? A corroborating video of the aftermath? If that was real there would have been 100 more videos taken starting after the guy sailed over the counter. WTF year and world are you living in? There are that many people in a McDonalds where something like that supposedly takes place and there isn't ANYTHING to support it? No real, believable video, no witnesses, no police, no statement from McDonalds and yet you still want to believe.

LOL! “Grasping at straws?!” “Believing?!”

No.

My very first post on the subject says that I expressed some doubts. For a fraction of a second I had the same question as you but since the answer to that question was staring me in the face I knew better than to use that as the cornerstone of my doubts. You, on the other hand, took the same question, ignored the answer, and leapt from doubt to solid belief that it’s fake with nothing else to support your conclusion.

I particularly liked how you fail to consider that even a staged video with unsuspecting witnesses would be just as likely/unlikely to record the aftermath. I think it’s cute that you would expect the aftermath to ever go viral or make it out there in light of the more complete video. Seriously: you really think it would go viral without the throw? You really think everyone would have their phones out and recording within 5 seconds? Just who is “grasping at straws” here?!

If it’s real it’s very likely that there is a police report. Unlike my own viral video from a month and a half ago, there isn’t enough information in the video for the media to find a police report. That police report is the only reason my video had legs to become viral (NY Post independently obtained/verified the report after I reported to Kotaku and put them in touch with my local PD). It is already viral in this case and, if true, the people recording the video might have good reason not to share those details.

Occam’s Razor is about the simplest explanation that answers the most questions. The simplest explanation is that the white guy cut in front of the black man and his friend (exactly like he stated) and they deliberately waited until it was time to order before asserting themselves while the friend was prepared to record the white man’s reaction. Seems pretty obvious.

Just saying: You are going to have to come up with a better question than “why were they recording?” when the video itself answers that question. That’s the exact question people had for my viral video and, again, the answer was in the video. Doesn’t stop stupid people from asking stupid questions, stupidly rejecting obvious answers, and doubting it for stupid reasons.

You didn’t have to thank me for bringing this embarrassingly obvious oversight to your attention but you could have saved face by voicing some other reason to doubt it. Instead, you simply doubled-down on the same dumb question that is already proven useless due to a perfectly acceptable explanation.

Again, I have my doubts too, but I have as many reasons to doubt that it’s fake. Any idea how much POS equipment costs? How do you think they got McDonald’s cooperation? Are you actually insinuating that no statement means McDonald’s was complicit or do you think it means that this is a fake McDonald’s complete with uniforms, extras/actors, and realistic registers and equipment? Shouldn’t we also expect a statement from McDonald’s if it were fake? Who even knows how long ago it happened to know whether or not a statement or report WAS made? It’s very possible that the video went viral years later after being shared privately. Perhaps they were less concerned of being prosecuted or someone else shared the video, which could explain why we don’t see the full, unedited, original anywhere.

You seem to think I aim to prove that it’s real when I simply want to know if it is fake/staged or not, same as you. That’s why I tried to put the thought process back on track. Barking up the wrong tree about why they were recording doesn’t get us any closer to the truth... the opposite, in fact, since it obviously made you and others stop thinking.

If anyone stumbles across any information such as where this happened or where we can find the original video, please speak up.

Dude. It's fake. You aren't going to win internet points by continuing to argue the point.

You mean it could be fake, exactly like I said.

You aren’t going to win Internet points by simply stating something without justification. You need to say why it’s fake to say it the way you are trying to say it.

I’d like to know what you think about the following video:
https://youtu.be/0QZSrQeWjy0
Is this one fake?

No, I followed the thread where that originally took place, and found it fascinating. But there was reason to be filming it from the beginning because there was something expected to be found, and as such there's no '#whyweretheyfilming' going on. The original video, however, had some schmuck standing in a McD's line, with a video filming clearly steadied on the front person in line, just *waiting* for something to happen. Then, surprise, something happened. No, McD's wasn't in on it, neither were the shits behind the counter. It was just a dumbass internet prank vid to get likes/upvotes/whatever.

If they wanted it to seem realistic, they would have started filming with like, a rowdy group of kids coming into the McD's followed by one cutting in front of the line, or started in the middle of the kid's rant, or whatever. Hell, at least pan from you vlogging or something to 'omg insane fight breaking out' or whatever.

All of those questions were already addressed.

Did you listen to them in the longer video? Yes: they were waiting for something to happen.... just like in the video with drugs in NES cartridges. There was reason to expect something to happen and, thus, reason to be filming. I already explained it but you’re still missing it since you are still insisting on an alternate explanation for them to be recording. I’ll try again.

The supposed premise of the McD’s video:
“Black guy” was cut off by clueless white man. “Black guy” and his cameraman friend conspired to say nothing until it was time to order and film clueless white man’s reaction. Clueless white man said something inflammatory and it escalated. “Black guy’s” friend/cameraman is shocked/surprised since he probably wasn’t expecting it to go that far. Both GTFO after the encounter.

If real, they were presumably expecting the clueless white man to object and they prepared to record it. That should never have been in question. The entire story I just described is plain-as-day in the video but people assume the cameraman is just a bystander and never make the connection with the black man saying that he was cut off earlier (before the recording starts). If their story is true then the recording starts exactly where you would expect it to.

It has a lot more in common with the video game drugs video than you might initially realize. The drugs vid was questioned all over for the same reason even though there is a police report to prove it and the explanation for “why were the filming” is explained right there in the video. If it is real you can’t expect these McDonald’s guys to provide a police report when they may face liability. If real, who even knows how long they sat on the video before releasing it or having it leaked by someone else.

Again, it can still be staged, but those POS and payment terminals aren’t cheap and organizing all the people with the consent of McDonald’s may be just as unlikely as it actually happening... for realz.

Occam’s Razor says it’s probably real. Your questions were answered in the video and the other questions that are raised by the possibility of it being fake/staged seem to be more numerous and harder to explain. See what I’m saying now?

Just bizarre that they would risk death or paralysis to fake a video like this. Catch your head on the edge of a counter... Knock a pot of coffee off the burner... Just plain smack your head on the floor too hard...

Welcome to the Youtube generation.

The giveaway is the bad acting after he gets tossed. He comically runs over to the fryer. A real kid would be embarrassed or enraged. Not immediately go throw fries (which is what adds to the video for hits).

CZ, quit trying to rationalize it for your bro, bro.
