I guess we are assuming these prices are correct? That the monitors are comparable (not just the same size)? That the Xeons are the same? That the RAM is comparable (generic vs. name-brand)?

Can someone link to these machines at these prices?

I don't see a "reason" that an Apple RAID card is expensive nor do I see a "reason" that Apple memory is so expensive. An acknowledgement that it is expensive because it is Apple is hardly a justification.

its because there isnt a reason, its the same memmory (and virtually the same mobo) and the same raid card (only difference being the drivers, OSx vs Win), apple simply charges more because they know idiots will pay for it

its the same reason the SSD upgrade costs 2x as much as buying the drive yourself

Who cares why it's that expensive, I don't see why people spend so much on buying RAM from computer manufacturers anyway they should buy it third party, like the PC would have been.
