Right. So I'm laughing again. Thanks for that.

In this case, I'm not really sure why. He's right, in this category Apple led the way with personal device (and thus personal information) security. Notice that Apple is also not an ad network.

I'm a big fan of Google, and even Microsoft for that matter, and for the longest time I was a strict anti-Apple everything... shit I'm pretty sure I invented reasons on the fly for why macOS (nee OS X, and System # before that). Partly just stupid juvenile pettiness and I grew out of that.

Apple has an obvious issue with cost/price, but the market is obviously just fine with that. Expensive but the demand supports it, economics 101 at work.

Back to security though, Apple has had incredible success with their security measures unless I missed something?

However one thing that should be noted is that Apple, like every other American company, willingly complies with any lawful data request for law enforcement purposes, but they have obvious limits -- like not destroying every security feature they've put in place. They only give data they can actually access without breaking their own encryption, and only when there is a court-approved warrant.

"Already seen this before" applies to the people who post these too.

iOS has allowed custom keyboards for many years now, including SwiftKey with swipe functionality. Yeah, iOS hasn't allowed custom keyboards for nearly as long as Android but custom keyboards were also one of the biggest vulnerabilities with Android. I really have no interest in messing with third party keyboards anyway because most of them aren't as serious about security / privacy as Apple.

Why are they finally doing it? Same with face unlock being late to the party... because they are simply late to the party and then they sell it and everyone who never saw it is like wow a new feature. Heh. There will always be a way to spin a defense... like "hey it works, look at sales", but you just have to roll your eyes. Look at their "innovations". Apple is just milking people, plain and simple. And that's good enough reason to give them the finger. Instead of their followers getting angry, they keep on feeding them. Hey, look at the sales numbers!

They did it years ago. They're now adding it to the standard system keyboard, which I think is unnecessary feature bloat.

Well, Apple's FaceID is notably superior to any implementation that simply uses the camera. Also, it uses Secure Enclave in the same way TouchID does.

I at least appreciate their security innovations. Implementing TouchID / FaceID / Apple Pay the same way as their competitors would have been disappointing.

^ So we gotta check for these at every ATM / gas station now? I imagine they could also secure it pretty tightly on there so they don't just pull out. How are they storing/sending any data with that small of an electronic footprint?

They have to phase out the existence of the strip and leave it to just the chip that can't be skimmed in the same way.

Even better, review the tapes and see if they can catch the guys who install the skimmers.

The other this is that most pumps use the same universal key to open it. So the skimmer can just be put inside.

I tugged on the similar-looking thing at QuikTrip a little while ago. Had to be sure ;)

Stoffel! One thing I've always wondered, they show people chasing after that naughty badja a lot. Ok, so they catch up with him. Now what? I don't see noose poles or nets, are they just using their hands to scoop up a bloody big badja, reknowned for having zero fucks to give? That guy chomps rhino dick, you think he's going to give 1 wet shit about your extremities? lol
