And honestly, if you don't know who or what you are voting for, do the educated voters a favor and don't vote.

I agree - and people wonder why America still has the electoral college...

Might want to start out by educating yourself on why the US has the electoral college in the first place. It has nothing to do with the education or level of knowledge regarding issues of the day of the average voter.

I thought the title of this thread was "Jesus Christ - young people suck at vomiting"

I thought "WTF???"

BTW, I wish this forum had a reputation system.

What a piss poor generalization in your Topic. I would say that the current young generation is pretty politically active. Vote or Die, right?

Further, as a University student that has watched more than half of the debates, I resent your comment.

?The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.? ~ Winston Churchill

It's not young people that suck at voting, it spans all generations. 50 year olds are just as clueless.

I really don't see much of a difference between Obama and Clinton personally. I'd rather see either of those two in the White House than McCain.

They even labeled Australia as Iraq and the dorks pointed to it.

Link? I would love to see that! :D

On topic: There are stupid voters at every age range. One only need look at the "30 percenters."

Based on what I have learned by speaking to people of all ages about politics, I have concluded that it isn't just young people that do not understand what they are voting for. It's most people in general.

Agreed. I've never really understood the Clinton hate, but I'm Canadian so what do I know.

Ironically, I don't know Hilary's or Obama's policies completely, but that's because I stopped caring once I heard the policies of Ron Paul. Too bad, we'll never have a president that cares about the "rights" of the American people, instead of one that wants to save the idiots from themselves.

I don't think that this is that big of a deal. I am 100% certain that if you went to the nursing home and interviewed people as they were getting on the buses to go to the polls, you would find just as big of a gap between who they are voting for and what that person's stances or policy initiatives are.

What most people don't take into account is that the average IQ of the US is 98. Now take into consideration that 50% of the population is lower than that......

Actually, if the average IQ is 98, that doesn't mean that 50% is lower than that. That would be the case if the MEDIAN IQ was 98.

I guess you're in the lower 50%.

It has turned out that the electoral college gives the majority of political voice to the undecided voters in a few "swing states". The most ironic thing is those undecideds are the least politically aware. A poll a while back showed that only a small percentage of them knew who controlled Congress

Yeah, older people are clearly quite skilled at voting. I mean, they've never accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan or anything.

IQ, knowledge, and belief structure are exclusive from each other. Only belief structures and knowledge really play a part in voting though.

and old ladies vote for Hillary because...

Let's face it, 70% of voters are either uninformed or misinformed about who they are voting for. John Smith, the Nobel Prize winner, and rocket scientist, who also minored in political science casts a vote. His vote is cancelled out by Johnny Crackhead, who sleeps in a box, doesn't read and just went to vote because he thought they were giving away food.

Ummm...dumb voters are nothing new. Age has nothing to do with it.

Clinton has votes from women just because she is a women, while Obama has the colored vote. It doesn't stop there either. Clinton has an edge just because she is the wife of Bill clinton. People are convinced that she'll be better because she has Bill. In other words, they want to vote for a puppet. At the same time, Obama continues to win over the young people because he wants "change".

Voting, today, has more to do with who you do NOT want in office.

That's the problem...the two are not that different. that's why their debates always end up about who has more experience.

You don't know that they did, what you know is that lawyers and political hacks claimed it would be easy for them to have gotten confused and accidently voted that way.
