His stories are no different than any other "war story" we hear about. Macrus Luttrell and Lone Survivor? Yeah, intelligence reports suggest that there were like 8-10 total Taliban fighters in that area, not the 200 he wrote about. Even his medal commendation states 50, not the 200 her wrote about.

These "war heroes" just make shit up. This particular one made something up about a guy with enough balls to sue him for it.

He was sued by a guy that fabricated his entire image of being a "war hero" which is not really my definition of "balls."

Ventura did some dangerous shit as a UDT but if you read HIS book and read the stories he told which campaigning about "hunting men" and such it's all nonsense too. UDT's didn't do that kind of work.

From the sounds of things Kyle did a fair bit of fabrication too. Maybe that's why they hated each other. Ever see Planes, Trains, and Automobiles?

I ain't saying Ventura didn't exaggerate as well (in fact, I would wager all war story books have a fair bit of that in them). However, Ventura didn't, to my knowledge, tell a fabricated story about punching some other tough guy out. Ventura had the balls to say "Hey! That didn't happen and it is hurting my image. I should sue." where more people, look at this thread, are on the side of "Omg, he is a war hero! Can't sue him if he profits off lying about you and damaging your image!"

He had a picture of himself the day after with no marks on his face so that basically sealed the deal on the case in my opinion.

No, he just made up a story about his time in UDT 11 that is completely false. He claims to have been a SEAL, to have seen combat, and to have killed. He also has repeatedly called out politicans for avoiding service when at the time that he was in UDT 11 the SEAL's were begging for recruits and he could have easily went and did all the things that he claims/alludes to have done.

He's made a very good living based on a phony public persona, and for him to sue a "fellow SEAL" as he likes to say over a supposedly phony story is pretty hypocritical.

Did The Body give it to your mother back in the day? You've got one hell of a hard on for him.

And, even if what you say is 100% accurate, he did not do what Kyle was found guilty of: fabricate a story that directly harmed an individual, and not just any ol' schmuck, but a public individual (and that is saying something!).

Just a peculiar post.

His earning potentials had already lessened.

He did not have his own show, nor were offers pending. so his earning potential was only as a guest.
Guest appearances / compensation are based on perceived popularity and interest from the potential audience.

He had fallen out of the public eye.
Demand for his appearances was down. (political and entertainment)

That's general, but are you referring specifically to the "Conspiracy Theory" show on TruTV as the downfall ? Because that's definitely not part of it.

By the way: NewsCorp insurance company will have to pay most of the money, not the wife.

i have that book but i havent read it, i dont think he even mentioned ventura by name, so its hard to see how he would have grounds to claim defamation

Kyle went wrong well before that. This guy shouldn't be glorified as a hero. In his book he believes he didn't kill enough Iraqis. And he either lied about Katrina or killed 30 US citizens.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...t-sniper-in-american-history/?wpsrc=AG0003376

He and another sniper traveled to New Orleans, set up on top of the Superdome, and proceed to shoot dozens of armed residents who were contributing to the chaos.” The magazine said one conversation participant said Kyle “claimed to have shot thirty men on his own,” while another said Kyle and the other killed 30 between them.

I can't imagine a worse sniper perch in downtown NOLA than on top of the damned Superdome. Its absurdly hard, even impossible at the time, to get on the roof, its bright ass white so you stand out against it, it has absolutely no cover and doesn't give any better sight lines than the taller buildings on the same block... Oh yeah, just about every news agency in the world was filming the dome at the time, pretty sure they would have noticed some guys on top shooting at people.

chris kyle was one sick phuck, its a good thing someone neutralizing his axe, even if he didnt shoot 30 people in new orleans or murder 2 people in texas he prolly would have eventually done scheet like dat, theres no way to safely integrate a phuck who shot 160/255 people back into civilization

I'm truly embarrassed that when he came on the scene I thought Ventura was a true fresh breath that would revitalize Minnesota. Fortunately I didn't live there so all he is to me is an easily ignored C list celebrity/conspiracy freak at this point. He has no reputation worth saving.

Well, the author despite being a confirmed badass has shown some questionable decision-making.

Giving someone a nickname in a book then identifying them in interviews so he could be sued and going shooting with someone who has ptsd.

Maybe there is something about the way the trial was handled that the case can be appealed.

If you're going to talk about someone in a book that they might sue you over better make sure what you're saying can hold up in court.
