I thought the SNL (which sucks btw, white or black. Always has, always will) thing was silly, and now this. The sad thing is people will see this and it reinforces the conservative notion of what liberals or progressives are all about. This is neither, it's just the result of people with too much damned time on their hands.

Better start meeting those quotas Jerry!

It’s possible that Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee won’t drive conversation for long enough to have an impact, but if the issue stays in the spotlight, Seinfeld’s perspective will lose. A continued lack of diversity on his show would prove his detractors’ point — and make him look racist and sexist, even if he’s merely failing to actively think about matters of race and sex — while increased diversity would seem to acknowledge that the “nonsense” isn’t so nonsensical at all.

This says everything that needs to be said. Libtards going to tard.:colbert:

SNL is a great show and it needed a black female... It's a sketch comedy show and Keenan Thompson had to play black women.

But Jerry Seinfeld has a small car show. The demographics of car enthusiasts are skewed toward white males.

He could have Frank Ocean and his BMW 3 series on though.

“Who cares?” he said,
Jerry already summed it up for the sane people of the country/world.

I care. White male privilege is a social ill that needs to be dismantled, among other privileges.

America needs to be more than a mere land of opportunity, but a land of equal opportunity.

We should ask BET why they don't have many white people.

Seriously, fuck, this country is touchy as hell with some stuff, it's just embarrassing.
"Seinfeld has never said anything prolific. He had a great sitcom but there’s no part of his act where you’re like, ‘Can you believe he said this?’ “He’s like a very talented middle of the road guy."
Mostly true. He does manage to be funny without the huge litany of expletives which are common in much of comedy, though.

And the troll emerges from under his bridge.

And the troll emerges from under his bridge.

I'm ok with that. This forum has always had a vocal anti-minority and racist perspective for over a decade. Those who ask for equality of opportunity are trolls here, while those who invaded this forum from Stormfront are lionized.

Jerry Seinfeld is an influential comedian with connections and ability to provide publicity/exposure to comics. Maybe he should be recognizing that his decisions on who to have on his show have major outcomes on various social and economic issues.

It's easy for a white male like Mr. Seinfeld to merely handwave these issues away.

So now we have to have affirmative action for comedy shows?

Why would any actually funny non-white comedian even want to go on his boring show? I agree with Russell Peters on this one:

"Seinfeld has never said anything prolific. He had a great sitcom but there’s no part of his act where you’re like, ‘Can you believe he said this?’ “He’s like a very talented middle of the road guy."

All that quote says to me is that Russell Peters doesn't know what "prolific" means.

Seinfeld is one of the great creative minds of the past 25 years, and created the best live-action sitcom ever conceived. What has Russell Peters ever done relative to Seinfeld?

In this instance Seinfeld didn't say anything even colorably racist/sexist/____-ist. This is a non-issue whipped up into a false controversy by Gawker, and in turn picked up by Time.

I liked the Seinfeld TV show, but this guy Russell Peters seems successful in his own way. Looking at Wikipedia, it seems like he is very successful, especially as an international stand-up comic with some attendance records for his shows overseas. Forbes has him down as the #3 highest-earning comic with Seinfeld has #1.

He didn't say anything "-ist" but he is showing extreme ignorance of the effect of his actions towards a major social ill in this country.

Yeah it means the show had good writers and supporting cast. Jerry Seinfeld as a stand up comic sucks.

"Sucks" is subjective. He is the most successful working standup in the world, so clearly your opinions are not shared by all.

As for the show Seinfeld, he and Larry David were the head writers, and the show is generally considered the best-written sitcom of all time. You act as though he was just the lucky beneficiary of a strong writing staff - this is a show he created.

It is the only sitcom that I can think of where I can watch it about 20 years after it debuted and still love it. Truly a work of genius.

Yeah, for me that and the Simpsons are the only shows that really hold up that way. Every other sitcom from the Seinfeld era or earlier feels very dated. Other than the very early Seinfeld episodes and the finale (which are pretty mediocre), I just love the entire run of the show.

I'm looking at the webpage for the show and I see a lot of diversity in those they've had on the show.

Are there a lot of white guys? Yea. But there are just as many if not more Jewish guys and since when are they not diversity? They're less than 3% of the population.

I also see 2 women and 2 black guys, who if you pay any attention to the comedy world is a pretty expected percentage of the total guest number they've had so far, particularly if they're insisting that the guests be funny.

I think Seinfeld was right on the money here. Who cares? Why must every single aspect of our society be checked now to make sure it's diverse enough? And why do people always seem to expect that the end result will be 50% white, 50% black, 50% women, 50% Hispanic, 50% Transgender, 50% Asian, 50% Jewish, 50% Handicapped, etc. They don't ever seem to understand that smaller portions of the population will be represented less in most things!
