Hey sixone, what it comes down to is the two women in this thread, like most women versus men, are just more sympathetic and have bigger hearts by nature. Not worth trying to explain ourselves anymore here.

what he is trying to convey to you is that in a person's obituary often the skeletons in their closets are not brought up out of respect for the dead.

you don't respect that, fine.

Nope, if someone's a POS when they're alive, I'm not gonna be singing their praises when they're dead.
where did anyone say you should sing his praises? 😕

Just dance around the uncomfortable stuff...

Like Hitler's obit would read:

The devoted Chancellor, husband and dog lover passed away this April 30, 1945 surrounded by his closest friends at his Berlin office. Known for his devotion to his country and the advancement of various technologies to improve travel over unimproved ground and previously closed air routes he will undoubtedly be sorely missed. Thought his decisions could be called unconventional by some he clearly commanded the respect of his friends, family and followers.
Yes, Falwell is comparable to Hitler. 😕

Be reasonable.

Eh, some people are best commemorated by silence except by those who loved them, which I think was mosh's point. AT isn't required to say anything nice about Falwell, but it shows a bit of class to refrain from bashing anybody, be they Falwell or Hussein, immediately after their death. In the long run, I think history makes everybody fair game.

It was a joke....mostly.

While it was a joke, he did support apartitide.

That was pretty low. Not Hitler low, but via apartitde people jailed and killed many....

I understand.

That said, it's interesting to explore the reasoning behind our actions and our emotions.

Personally, I don't hate the guy and never will because I really don't care for hatred, but am dissapointed that someone could do such inappropriate thigns.

may not have been my favorite person but, he was to someone and i feel sorry for them. he may have not done things the way we like them but, at least he had enough guts to standup for what he thought was right and try and make changes. i may not have agreed with him but, i still respect people enough that live for what they believe in.

I think it's a simple matter of respect, more than sympathy. The man is dead, he'll never do anything again, good or bad.

And I personally believe that he's gone to meet his Maker. He holds the ultimate judgment, and knows what was in Mr. Falwell's head and heart. Doesn't matter what any of us think about the dead, but I do believe that how WE act will matter when we face our own judgment day.

Maybe she refreshed, saw it was gone and hit Back? That or a time machine, and I know which is more likely 😛

I just heard about this and it made my day. I somehow feel more confident knowing he is no longer in this dimension.

No sir. I saw it was deleted and all I had to do was go back a few pages to see it and screen shot it. At first I went back to make sure I wasn't seeing things and that I had actually posted it.

I have to really question that, too. Makes no sense to me - it was far, far less offensive and far more respectful than several other posts in this thread.
