Wow, what a creative idea. Suit up for more war....

In his first major foreign policy address, the likely 2016 Republican front-runner will make the case for increased military spending so America can "project power and enforce peaceful stability in far-off areas of the globe." He will also criticize President Barack Obama's foreign policy, calling it "inconsistent and indecisive."

,.. which we have not successfully pulled off since 1945 or so. You can certainly site successful hit, run & topples on "illusive" terrorists, warlords and dictators,.. but, we've never brought stability to any region, like we did when we got involved in WW2.

Also, this idea of 'project power' is one of the core ingredients to building resentment and hate among the very people you claim you are there to 'stabilize'.

Modern war is sparked by an ideology of pure hate. The enemy does not want gold or oil or power - they want our destruction. And, you won't counter that with the projection of power. It will draw more hate.

Now, enemies that DO want gold, oil and power, you can deal with that from a diplomatic perspective 1st. And, if it's worth it to rattle sabers,.. yeah, go ahead and wave your dick around.

Jeb wants to be Pappa Bush & Wubba Bush + Putin. Fuck that.

Sizable donation from Northrop Grumman on the way

Yeah, because I can't see much voter demand for either the spending or idea of "projecting power" after the last 14 years of military action.

Oh look: Today's made up non-issue for democrats to rage over instead of focusing on real issues.

The numbers alone paint an entirely different picture - that isn't he budget of someone on the defense,.. that is the budget of someone on the offense. And, that is what we've been doing for the past near 1/2 decade; invading other countries.

Call it spreading freedom. Call it stabilizing. Call it whatever you want. But, these aren't defensive moves/spend - they are clearly offensive.

Unless the Repubs can come up with some kind of epic shift in ideological dogma, I really don't think they can win presidential elections without their increased use of selling lies, fear and hate as their prime motivator/election winner.

I mean, when was the last time the Repubs came up with any kind of ideas that favored the uplifting of all boats for creating/sustaining a healthy and stable economy for everyone? Last I heard it was Ronnie's trickle down scam for, of and by the very rich that Ronnie dearly wanted to suck up to and identify with. It seems like he totally over-reacted in his desire to erase any remnant history of his days being in union leadership. Presently, it's the same old tired song and dance of smaller gov't (that gives the few with huge influence even more power), personal responsibility, deregulating the banksters and investment scam artists, getting rid of any kind of federal assistance programs for the needy and advocating for anything else that cripples the middle class and the poor to give the rich and powerful ever more riches and power.

With national demographics shifting away from those classic Repub ideologue talking points, and with the middle class and the poor increasingly realizing how they have been denied the chance to enhance their quality of life and live the American dream so that the very rich can acquire even more control of the nation, having the Repub Party being recognized as the defenders and enablers of these power grabbers is not going to play well in the near and distant future.

Jeb Bush represents precisely that kind of image, and although Hillary is a recognized big business advocate, her Dem Party pedigree demands that at the least she favors legislation that includes having the middle class and the poor being able to have a strong voice in government and a better chance at living the American dream for themselves and their children.

Curious then that the foreign policy team that Jeb announced today is not just very much George W. Bush’s, but includes two of the most controversial figures from invasion of Iraq, former Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz and former National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley. Short of including Dick Cheney, this is the strongest possible indication that Bush is embracing his brother’s foreign policy. What’s up with that?

Paul Wolfowitz of the wildly successful Iraq adventure fame.

Considering China's, Russia's, and Iran's antics of late, I'm not entirely opposed to this.

Of course not, you would have troops in all three countries and 100,000 Americans in body bags. You guys are really really scary.

Since Mr. Reagan, the GOP has been running on:
1. Cutting taxes
2. Increasing Defense spending
3. Getting tough on crime

Other popular issues:
Anti-abortion
Anti-birth control for women
Forcing Southern Baptist dogma onto everyone
Demonizing the poor, unions, education, brown skin "illegal aliens", scientists, etc
Voter suppression
Islamphobia

I think Mr. Bush is going to go with
Cutting Taxes for the wealthiest
Increasing Defense spending
Anti-abortion
The demonization of the poor and unions
Islamphobia
