I can understand that some of the "higher end " denim is selvage which seems to be stronger and durable then cheaper jeans but other then that, fashion/style wise I don't see any advantages - maybe you can educate me.

well, dry selvage denim is very expensive as you know because it usually indicates higher quality.

diesel is just amazing. If you look over the cuts, washes, pocket designs, you will fall in love with something.

A lot of it comes from the fact it's Made in Japan and Italy, so you pay for the prestige and labor and knowing you don't support the sweat shops.

Diesel's are ownage, but at a price. I got two pairs in seattle for cheap at some boutique store that was going out of business, w00t! but If the OP wants a decent pair of jeans that aren't ballbreakingly expensive, get the Lucky's that go onsale at 50-75% off that's happening right now. they are orig. $100-150 and you can get a good pair for $50 and less if you are willing to wait till they slash to 75% but by then you will have slim pickings

http://www.luckybrandjeans.com/

APC is another good brand w/ selvage denim that's cheaper, but they are harder to come by. I got a pair i'm breaking in now.
I'll keep my man card in my jeans pockets thank you ;)
you can always find the high end stuff on sale SOMEWHERE, you just need to keep an eye out for it. i've never bought designer jeans at full price, f that

as for legs, fat doesn't deposit on the legs for men as much as the ass/gut/torso area.

If you lost 50lbs, or were below 10% fat, you would probably fit into a 36".
I've been that weight (read: skinny) and this height, and I'm telling you, I can't fit into a size 36.

yeah apc is alright, problem is it stretches like shit and is ultra vanity sized. Plus not all the stuff is selvage and it's too slim for my taste.

I'm kind of over the dry denim stuff for now.

What is this, a joke? I've never paid more than 25 dollars for a pair of jeans. Only a complete idiot would pay more. Target, Walmart, Kohls, Costco, etc will all have jeans in that price range with quality greater than the 200 dollar jeans.

not all are flare. I happened to link to x-ro's and zathans, which are bootcut, believe me if you search cuts like viker, thanaz, or safado, you will find a tapered/straight cut.

I love people like you living in your little world where you spend your money on extremely worthless crap like video cards, blueray movies or fancy lawn equipment and then you have the nerve to tell classy people like me how to spend my money.

oh yeah, don't forget to call me an idiot! ahhh...

It's about taste, some people can look at Diesel vs. walmart jeans and truly not see a difference. It's a gift and a curse to have a palette as highly developed as mine.

and I LOVE how you say shitty sweatshop jeans have 'greater' quality than $200 jeans CONSIDERING you never owned a pair or know anybody that does. hahahaha.... Another smartass.

I hope you are not male because if you are, you have no man card. And if you do have one it is pink and counterfeit.
I've never owned a "fashionable" jean in my life, but I would like to be SLIGHTLY more fashionable than I am. But I REFUSE to pay even $100 for a pair of jeans, when my Levis fit just fine.

Also, I wear a 42 x 34, as I'm 6'9" and I have huge legs (almost all muscle, for the record, and I have the body fat % to prove it).

You wear 34 length and you are 6'9"? Do you have an extremely long torso or do you just like high waters? I'm 6'4" and wear 34 length.

well, if you paid a little more, you'd only be destroying one pair per year

now who's insane?

Jean styles change frequently, but you can't go wrong with the Levi's 501 IMO. I like the selvage shrink-to-fit 501 but they're hard to find and expensive.

I bought some 'full leg' jeans by Earnest Sewn and Paper Denim & Cloth that were cut great...not too baggy, not tight.

you're fucking ignorant and a loser if you don't own a few pairs of $200 jeans.

You can turn in your man card too.

Dude he's gay. Though I am not, I will agree that designer denim is more comfortable and obviously fashionable. Though durability I have no idea. I own both Wally world and designer denim, I use either depending what is necessary. Work gets walmart, women get designer.

And yet, you're a superficial wise and beautiful woman with an inferiority complex. Nothing gets you wet like a denim thread on an online computer geek forum. What the fuck do you think that says about you?
