Others here I'm sure grew up like me in the country, I definitely can respect that. But if your from a large or largish city, and you want to go out, get a few pairs of nice jeans. Ladies aren't attracted to you because you spend alot of money of your clothes, their attracted to the style and how you make it work, they like guys who can dress themselves, if you can do that with a $30-40 outfit more power to you, but most of you CAN'T.

With that said, my man card is status is doing just fine, and I own a pair of $150 jeans, and few pair of $50 dollar jeans.

To answer OPs question, Jcrew and buckle will run you about 40-70 depending on the jeans and sale prices. Tyler jeans from buckle are pretty nice for 50.

Well, my roommate is a fashion consultant, so I suppose there's hope for me yet. She told me we'll go shopping for clothes after I save a bit..lol :p

Chicks look at shoes, throw on a pair of 30$ jeans then put that 200 or more into shoes, with a decent shirt and you are stylin. :D I wear Levi 545 jeans then pair them with usually some Gordon Rush shoes.

Probably works great in Bennigans or TGIF's.

because those that wear tuxedos wear them also while washing their cars

Same with those that wear $200 sneakers...

I personally prefer Nautica Jeans.

They can be had for $30-$50 depending on store and sale.

Spending more than $30 for a pair of jeans is insanity, and even that's pushing it. I like to keep it cheap, because I destroy at least 3 pairs of those fuckers a year.

well, if you paid a little more, you'd only be destroying one pair per year

now who's insane?

It would not matter in the slightest. These things get shredded apart on the rocks. Fabric quality won't make the slightest bit of difference on Sierra granite.

true enough--that all depends on your use. the OP isn't looking for jeans to be working in the backwoods. he's looking for something nice and comfortable to go out, as is my understanding. I'm not a $200 jeans person. However, I do see value in picking up a pair of nice, $100+ jeans on sale for ~$50-70.

Hell, I only have one pair of jeans anyway, and they're just over 1 year old. Couldn't wear them for 15 years. Always thought they were uncomfortable.

I see jeans as utilitarian, not dressy. Maybe things are different up here than the rest of the country- where people own chainsaws and actually use pickup trucks for their intended purposes. Up here, Carhartt = good jeans.

And perhaps I shall- and leave you to your trolling. :cookie:

Go to a nice bar in Manchester or Portsmouth, people aren't wearing Carhartt jeans.

Dude, that's over 100 miles south of where I lived.

I just moved (south-ish) though, so perhaps I'll have to readjust my clothing style. Good thing I have help, seeing as I was so far out of the loop for so long :p

Dude, if you live that far up north, your fashion consultant roommate must be unemployed. What fashion is needed up there? Oh, we need some pics of her too.

I have some pretty "fashionable" jeans. Branding i tend to lean towards...

Old Navy: $15, great fit on me, I usually get the stained ones that have a dark wash.
Izod Revolutions: $24, also great fit, but a bit long on me. The color and stain are perfect for semi-dressing up
Claiborne for Men: $25, very dark, light-weight fabric, fantastic for the summer
Perry Ellis American: $7, this one is random one, since the price was right i bought them.

For my crap work jeans, Wal-mart: durable and cheap, not really looking at fashion for these.

well, thats what i own.

Yes, then go buy a 12 year old sentra and put some four thousand dollar rims on it, you'll be set to get all the ghetto booty you want.

I'm wear primarily Levis to work, which makes me kinda boring I guess. They don't cost an arm & a leg and are comfortable.

I usually stick to DKNY or CK jeans that fit me. I wouldn't mind owning some more expensive jeans, but can't afford to do so right now.

Agreed. In my experience, Levis overall are the best jeans ever made.

agree with your agreement! I can get a pair for 30-40 bucks and they last a long, LONG time!

I also agree. I like the silvertab, not sure if its still exist.

I just buy nothing but Lee carpenter jeans. I like the way they fit and they're pretty cheap last time I checked like $30-40 or something.

You can buy $20 wranglers, I have a pair of their carpenters...but they fit kind of weird and look a good deal more poorly put together to me.

I buy about 3-4 pairs of Levi silvertabs every two or three years. Comfy, they fit and they're about $40-50 each.

I've never even tried designer jeans on. For $200, I'd expect them to provide me with a perpetual orgasm. Maybe I'm missing out?

Many of the designer jeans have a very unique cut which makes them fit better than your average pair of levi's.

Also with True Religion the sales people at the store will mend and repair your jeans in the store while you watch. I think certain other brands have similar service. Also many of the designer brands like Monarchy, True, and rock & Republic are made in the USA. Sleep better knowing that your jeans were not made by Chinese children.

Sweatshop vs no sweatshop is a good point, but spending $200 is still stupid. The vast majority of that money goes to the corporation, not the person making the clothes or the materials- so the idea that it's better quality is foolish. What are some $50 jeans made ethically?
