Maybe, but the GOP isn't responsible for IL's problems. And the GOP can manage their money, so that's something.
The GOP runs Illinois.

Rauner has personally financed the Republican party campaigns.

You can catapult those goal posts if you feel it's necessary, but don't try to BothSides this issue.

Illinois governance has been corrupt for decades, every Wisconsinite knows that.

I'm surprised the Jeanne Ives tv commercial didn't have anything in it about witchcraft, or burning witches at the stake or whatever other things the right wing christian fundamentalist types think....

Hush, you're not supposed to say that. Democrats are the champions of the little guy, the defenders of the downtrodden, the glorious guardians of good. When they take buckets of corporate cash it's ok because they only take it from the nice company's that mouth all of the appropriate platitudes.
Yea, let's just give up and let the Republicans take over, cause we're morally superior and won't take the big bucks. Ain't ever going to happen. You have to live in the world you are given, not some ideal that never existed.

I lived there from 1975 to 1980. I voted a straight Republican ticket. After 68, there was no way I was going to vote for the Dem machine. Well, Thompson ended up being indicted as well as some of the other candidates I voted for. Corrupt politics seems to be a way of life in that state and the populace seems to think this is fine. I asked people there all the time about the really petty but dangerous.payoffs for everything, you know health dept inspections, and things like that. It would be explained that this way it's really more a democratic (small chars) way to spread the wealth to the little guy. They are pathetic and deserve the pile of crap they live in.

Money? When did Dems enable more money in politics, particularly untraceable money? When was the last time the Dems raided the Treasury to give the money to the Rich? When were they Hell bent on screwing over innocent people because of their immigration status? When did they try to squeeze the life out of programs that help millions of Americans? When did they attack the institutions of the govt of the people? When did they refuse their constitutional duty to give a SCOTUS nominee a fair hearing? When did Dems gloat over giving anybody a buck fifty a week tax cut? I mean, whoever did that was the real champion of the people, huh?

This "They're just as bad!" routine is both tedious & dishonest.
You seem to have glossed over the issue at hand. Is it your position that the democrats don't take corporate money? Have you noticed how many millionaires there are in congress?
Pretty much everything you said has nothing to do with the topic at hand. I don't mind debating an issue with you, but you need to stay focused on the topic.

IL has been RULED by the Dems for decades. You can't blame the GOP governor for IL's problems, those problems have been decades in the making.

James R. Thompson January 10, 1977 – January 14, 1991 Republican

Jim Edgar January 14, 1991 – January 11, 1999 Republican

During his second term, the relationship between his re-election campaign and Management Systems of Illinois (MSI) came under federal scrutiny. MSI, Edgar's largest campaign contributor, was granted a contract that cost an estimated $20 million in overcharges. Eventually, a number of both private citizens and state employees were convicted in federal court.

George Ryan January 11, 1999 – January 13, 2003 Republican

On September 6, 2006, Ryan was sentenced to six and a half years in prison for the illegal sale of government licenses, contracts and leases by state employees during his prior service as Secretary of State. In the wake of numerous convictions of his former aides, he chose not to run for reelection in 2002. Seventy-nine former state officials, lobbyists, and others were charged in the investigation, and at least 76 were convicted.

Rod Blagojevich January 13, 2003 – January 29, 2009 Democratic

Convicted of Selling a senate seat.

Pat Quinn January 29, 2009 – January 12, 2015 Democratic

Bruce Rauner January 12, 2015 – Present Republican

So no. The Democrats have most certainly not "ruled Illinois for decades." They had power for a little over one decade in 4.

28% of the time

What is the point of posting one sided statements like this that are obviously false? Lets be honest, no politician can manage their money. Republicans are dead set in cutting taxes to the bone without budget cuts, and Democrats are no fiscal hawks either. For ever red state that has fiscal problems, there is a blue state that has fiscal problems.
At the heart of this particular problem is political cowardice. Not one of these politicians has the balls to tell the people that they need to pay for what they expect to get. Or dares risk the certain backlash to their careers if they did.

They have big donors, no doubt. OTOH, not all rich people are greedy avaricious assholes, either. This recent tax cut lays out who's who rather neatly. When ACA taxes cut into Rich Dems' bottom line, they paid more. When Hillary said she'd raise taxes at the top, wealthy Dems contributed anyway. Some people feel like it's their civic & patriotic duty & a privilege to pay big taxes on big money.

Horrifying, ain't it?

I must admit the commercial made me laugh.
Interesting to see the Republicans cannibalize themselves, that's for sure. Precursor to the 2020 Presidential primary campaign where they'll attack Trump for granting citizenship to millions of DACA's.

Repubs have been deliberately crazifying their base for decades. It started to turn on them with the Teahadis & now they're kinda screwed because they're trying to reason with people who can't be reasoned with. Surprise, dipshits- you made 'em that way. November 8, 2016 is a day that will live in infamy. It's the day the poor bastards lost their marbles completely & made Trump President.

Yeppers. Totally hornswaggled.

I was surprised, though maybe I shouldn't have been, when Rod Blagojevich was charged. I thought it couldn't be that bad there, not another one. Corrupt politics have caused a lot of harm. I live in WI, work in IL, I've known many people from IL to flee just north and live in WI, taxes are much better in WI (and we have no toll roads!).

Didn't see it mentioned here, but saw it elsewhere:
At a meeting of gubernatorial candidates from both parties, Ives said that the way to solve gun violence was "fathers in the home."

Not fewer guns - more dads.

Per the Tribune: Democratic candidate Chris Kennedy, the son of assassinated former U.S. Sen. Robert Kennedy, walked out of the forum after telling Ives that “I didn’t have a father in my life. Somebody shot him.”

Here in FL the state is putting in toll roads everywhere.

Under long term contracts, no doubt. That's the GOP- beating the cash out of the little guy so that the Rich can profit more & pay less in taxes. Cuz it'll all trickle down, obviously.

I don't know if you've been to Orlando recently but you have to be very careful about what route you take or you will be forced onto one of their many fee producing roadways. I found out the hard way just a few months ago GPS be damned.:p

The Midigan duo might take issue with your assessment of the GOP running Illinois.
