Well if you’re sure that the next election will result in the overthrow of democracy the democrats will have full executive power for the next four years. Wouldn’t it make sense to seize power while you have it then?

Why wait for them to end democracy, is my point. If that’s a foregone conclusion better to end it yourself, no?

The best solution is a negotiated split of the states so there is no war. I understand the geographic split leaves some things to be desired but it's either the whole country loses or we save half of it.

Why would/should we kneecap our democracy first? I don't want a Democratic dictatorship any more than a Republican one.

Okay so we have established:

2) splitting the country so that people who want to continue democracy can do so is impossible.

Sounds like the solution is clear then - Biden must end democracy first and seize control. Isn’t that the only logical answer?

What I’m trying to say is I don’t think you actually believe this is the case because I’d you did then seizing power now is the obvious answer.

That was perfectly clear the day the EC voted & the next when McConnell acknowledged Biden as the President Elect. A few exceptionally stupid Senators may defy him, but that's it. Drama, drama, drama. Flood the zone as long as possible. Blah, blah, blah. Trump's assault on sanity & democracy has fallen short.

Just like the Republicans have been developing their stupid ignorant base for years to get us to this point with Trump, it's only going to get worse from here. Pandora's box is open. Sure Trump's attempt will fail but the stage is set for the future. Tens of millions of people trained to not believe in democracy or the facts. Their representatives will get more and more radical to appeal to them. All that shit the zone is flooded with is not just going to get washed away when Biden takes that oath. The future threat to democracy is very real

Maybe this time? Today we hear about Republican legislators from PA urging McConnell to overturn the election.

What about the next time? What about this mortal wound inflicted upon our democracy?

You realize we are a SLIM Dem House Majority away from them simply saying "Nah, Trump is the winner."

Not only does it not get washed away, it will undoubtedly intensify during Biden's presidency as Trump and his surrogates fan the flames from the sidelines.

Biden is the real lame duck President here. Keeping the seat warm for whatever Republican emerges in 2024.

I find the man repulsive, every time I see or hear him without exception. I've seen people say (video) that they absolutely love him. It makes me wonder, what's gotten into these people. What are their day to day lives like? Not somewhere I want to be.
 
Ultimately it might be better for the country long term if some Senators join the objection so they can cause a fracas in the Republican party and perhaps cause it to actually fracture in two, perhaps benefiting the country in the next elections as Trump candidates and GOP candidates split the votes enabling Dems to win the midterms.

It's hard for me to believe that the [Trump must have won contingent of Senators] will be more than a very small splinter group with a fading effect come the midterms. A fog fading in the morning sun. Ah, we shall see. The haughty My Way or the Highway Shithead is about to be shown the door.

I hope your right. But Jake Tapper of CNN is reporting that at least 140 Republican House members will vote against certifying the Electoral votes.
