I might be wrong (didn't go through his post history so I haven't a clue where he's "coming from") but I just assumed Dr Detroit was being sarcastic.
I don't see what's misleading about the reporting. If you say "I don't like" that X "is a fact of life" you are implicitly stating that X is a fact of life.
A news outlet is going to report the news in that, and the news is that JD Vance thinks school shootings are 'a fact of life'. That he doesn't like that, is not news, it would be kind of astonishing if he liked that they were a fact of life, not liking it is surely a given? The newsworthy bit is that he thinks they are a fact of life in the first place.

I think I read a well-reported article some years ago on this--mostly Thiel but primarily these billionaire tech psychos that have focused their attention on building bunkers and hoarding their wealth and influence against the coming storms arrayed against their generational avarice (Rather than, you know, spend their wealth on preventing these outcomes that they very well know that they created).
apparently, it's a thing in these circles that you can pay young male LA wannabee-actors handsome sums to be these dude's life-sustaining bloodbags, for monthly sessions. It's fucking weird as shit.
It's what happens when you have a class of people that confuse wealth with intelligence, and value. And success. These people aren't actually very good at the things they claim to be: developers, engineers, scientists, whatever--they just cheated and grifted their ways ahead of everyone else due to a substantial lack of ethics and morality. Republicans and some independents will probably just say it's refreshing that JD is so honest. You have to admit, it takes guts to just come out and say school shootings are a fact of life (they are, due to gun nuttery) and that he made up that pet-eating shit (he did, or at least pushed it onward).
