No retail store (online or B&M) will accept any product that has the UPC removed. Period. Newegg is no different. You're an idiot if you thought otherwise.

Thanks for the kind words. I love this forum for all the members who always contribute and show such politeness.

I'm pretty sure your response could have been made without the last sentence.

Doesn't XFX offer a lifetime warranty?

WTF were you doing sending it back to Newegg? For warranty service you should always seek out manufacturer related options first, everyone knows this.

OK, now I know this too.

Almost all online vendors offer a 30-day warranty. Mwave, Geeks, 3Btech, Starmicro, Zipzoomfly, Newbiz, Micro Center, Directtron, PartsPC just to name a few that I use.

In the past the few times I have had a product fail in the first 30 days I have called upon their warranty and they have honored it no problem. Of course they take care of anything DOA.

Now I'm not gonna bring up each vendor and search for the specific warranty period, just generalizing here so if one of the mentioned doesn't have 30-days, no big deal.

If anything failed at a later time I would check to see if it was still under the manufacturers warranty.

It worked for me, but I guess what everyone is telling me is that I was doing it wrong?

And that I was an ignorant jerk for not ever having to deal with a missing UPC on a replacement from an online vendor. Although it is never posted on the product page or the rebate option, or for that matter the simple return policy page that you see when asking for an RMA.

You're still mixing up the terms "warranty" and "return period". Newegg (or any of those other stores you mention) doesn't offer a warranty on products. They offer a return period in which they'll accept something back for return/replacement. A warranty is from the manufacturer (in this case) and is honored with/without a UPC code.

You CAN get warranty service without the UPC code. You CANNOT return/exchange something without the UPC code.

lol good one

This is to prevent people from buying something, sending in an MIR, then returning or exchanging the product for full value.

I understand you aren't trying anything devious, but this is why Newegg is telling you to have it replaced by the MFG.

It makes sense.
Its in Neweggs written policy.
They were polite to you AND explained why.

Move on.

i agree completely here. this is why you wait before you send in rebates. i thought it was common sense, but im surprised the OP didn't know this after spending as much as he has at newegg. i dunno

Did you read RMA policy? I'm very certain it says the UPC must be present. This is common sense as well.

You should have known to return the video card to the mfg. As I'm sure you think we are all idiots for calling you the retard, continue doing what you're doing as it's working for you thus far.

Does this mean I should not attempt to be polite and respectful to other forum members as a decent human being would?

Party time!!!!! I guess I can act like some of these other people and maybe see how far I can go before getting banned😉

It makes the day of retail employees when you throw the: Do you know I have spent "At least $25,000 in business" here line. THEY LOVE IT. Makes them want to help you 200% more guaranteed.

Newegg is correct along with everyone else. But anyways, even if newegg doesn't honor a replacement, which they shouldn't, I don't see why you can't just send it in to XFX. I would have sent it in to XFX first anyways.

Cliffs:
OP rants that Newegg is clearly in the wrong.
ATOT proves him wrong.
OP proceeds to downplay his pissiness by saying he doesn't really care, and was posting to help others out.

Wrong.

I still think newegg was unfair, regardless of what ATOT says. Several people did post saying that they did not know a missing UPC used for a rebate would void the vendors warranty. So regardless of what ATOT thinks, this thread did contribute.

Did yours?????

Another personal attack!

I feel good about being pretty popular around here😀
Attack? I'm merely pointing out the painfully obvious.

What if I said that you were a spineless little worm because you can insult online without any real consequences. Would I be merely pointing out the painfully obvious?

Several people also die every year from electrocuting themselves in the bathtub. What is your point?

Wow, another contributing post directly relating to the thread topic.

Amazing!
