I've had it with newegg!!!!

I thought this was basically the reason they give you rebates so you couldn't return it and get a refund. Once you get a rebate your stuck with your purchase and if you have problems you go through the manufacturer for a replacement. You sure don't sound like a guy who has spent $25,000 at an etailer.
 
OP newegg is like a god here. no matter how bad Newegg screwes up it is always going to be your ault.

I do agree that if they are having a rebate that makes you cut out the UPC they need a way to exchange the product if it is not working.


THose saying this is the op's fault how is it? he got the card and tested it. it worked fine! so he did What any of us would do. sent in the rebate. then the card started acting up. So now he is screwed with newegg because of it. again how is this HIS fault?

Call newegg and bitch. you aren't asking for money back you want a working card.
if they don't do anything cal the manufacter
 
I still don't see the problem here. It's not like the OP can't get a replacement card. He just can't get it the way he wants it.

Only if I wanted a refund. I don't want a refund. The card broke, it was supposed to have a standard vga warranty, I wanted it replaced. I fail to see how that is going to cost newegg any more money regardless of the rebate status.

If XFX doesn't require the UPC for a replacement from an end user, why would they require the UPC from an online vendor like newegg?

So you're saying, because you want a replacement, you don't want retail packaging and just a new card? So newegg is supposed to throw away the box or something? What happens when you return that one because it doesn't work either, how is newegg or any other retailer supposed to get their money back?

Seems like Newegg is technically correct, but is making a very dumb business decision. Yes, they can stand behind the technicality, but in doing so, royally tick off a customer that has an extensive track record and is obviously a source of revenue.

Also, prior to readin this post, I too had no idea that using the UPC for a rebate (essentially) invalidates Newegg's warranty. Not cool, they should make that more explicit.

How is it not the OP's fault? Once he cut the UPC, its the manufacturer's problem if its screws up, as Newegg has no way of properly handling this for him. Not only that, but its clearly stated in their terms (which you agree to at the time of purchase).

So how much are you really out? $10 shipping cost? I assume they'll return the card to you?

I understand your frustration, but also understand their position. Even if it's not the first line on the first page of the policy, they do state that the UPC must be present.

Get the card back and RMA it to XFX and move on.

neither did i. and i been useing newegg for years. but then again havn't had to return much

Now if you read their faq on RMA's you would have seen this:

How long does it take for Newegg to process an RMA?

RMA processing time may vary depending on the product and reason for the return but generally processing time is 2-5 business days once the RMA is received and meet all following criteria:

1. Return with RMA number clearly identified in shipping label or on package.
2. Return with all original equipment, components, manuals, cables, documents, packaging.
3. UPC code along with retail package.
4. No physical damage caused by customer or by carrier.
5. Item is NOT out of warranty when it is received.

again... newegg is not the warranty provider for the card...

if the product is not DOA... then the problem is the responsibility of the warranty provider which is XFX...not new egg.

it should be on the product page if there is a rebate. BUT i agree the OP is acting like a child. just call them and the manufactuer. no need to act like a little brat on AT.

yes but they offer a 30 day money back warrenty. I understand why they don't honor it (ran a store myself years ago. though i never did rebates). But depending on his history they should bend the rules.

also they should make it a little more clear about the rebate canceling the warrenty they offer. i have never seen it before.

but yes he is 100% wrong in his whiny (spelled right?) post. contact them and the manufacture and no need to post here unless he gets nowhere with both.
 
This is to prevent people from buying something, sending in an MIR, then returning or exchanging the product for full value.

I understand you aren't trying anything devious, but this is why Newegg is telling you to have it replaced by the MFG.

It makes sense.
Its in Neweggs written policy.
They were polite to you AND explained why.

Move on.
 
I am pissed at Newegg because I visited their warehouse and got a parking ticket. The damn sign said 3 hour parking from 8 a.m. - 4:30. I got there are 4... walked around to 6:30 and came back and had a F&%*&%ing ticket on my car. None of the newegg employees had tickets on their cars.

I hate newegg . They're always making me buy things I don't really need because I go "oooohhh, that's a good price!" and then the crap just piles up in my basement and they refuse to come over here and sort through those boxes for me and assemble the various parts into things that will entertain me.

WTF were you doing sending it back to Newegg? For warranty service you should always seek out manufacturer related options first, everyone knows this.

OK, now I know this too.

Almost all online vendors offer a 30-day warranty. Mwave, Geeks, 3Btech, Starmicro, Zipzoomfly, Newbiz, Micro Center, Directtron, PartsPC just to name a few that I use.

In the past the few times I have had a product fail in the first 30 days I have called upon their warranty and they have honored it no problem. Of course they take care of anything DOA.

Now I'm not gonna bring up each vendor and search for the specific warranty period, just generalizing here so if one of the mentioned doesn't have 30-days, no big deal.

If anything failed at a later time I would check to see if it was still under the manufacturers warranty.

It worked for me, but I guess what everyone is telling me is that I was doing it wrong?

And that I was an ignorant jerk for not ever having to deal with a missing UPC on a replacement from an online vendor. Although it is never posted on the product page or the rebate option, or for that matter the simple return policy page that you see when asking for an RMA.

This is my consensus on the whole deal.

As dumb as a lot of these rude people here are calling me, I am sure that this will help a few people avoid the same situation.

FWIW, I always wait 1-2 weeks for testing before mailing any rebates off so I don't shaft myself like this.

Remember, while it seems I am ranting out of control, this isn't the first time there has been a problem. I use a dozen or so online vendors and haven't had any problems they weren't willing to take care of.
