nah not yet, was way too low of an offer, but it's not finished yet. it's with a startup and sounds very interesting though. i would love to work something out with them.

turned down another job out there though that offered me 40k more than i make here. company had too many red flags.

I'm going to SF this next week. I'm in Phoenix at the moment. I'll be in SF for a few days. I have a job interview but I feel very bad about it. I paid for the flight and places to stay by myself and the interview will be short. I feel regret about it, I guess... but it's more like I did the action for the sake of the action. Everyone still thinks I'm a local candidate, so whatever. It's my blame to burden.

I'm confused, are you talking about regretting something that hasn't happened yet?

You realize you could still stop, right? Even non-refundable flights you can typically cancel and you'll get a credit to reuse with that airline. Most hotels have a 24 hr cancellation policy

Hmm, alright. Got that to happen. I used airbnb with an unfair return policy though. I got $20 of the $90 they charged me. Sucks but whatever. I was looking at paying close to paying $300 total for the visit. ($102 on flights, $90 on airbnb, rest on eating out and bart/caltrain) I had a place to stay for one night for free but whatever. I really didn't feel good about visiting and doing this shitty interview. I've been having a rough time and I wouldn't be in a good state (especially with the knowledge that I'd be spending a lot of money for what felt like a waste of a trip).

I'm so amused. Back in Phoenix, flying (or not) to SF for interviews...wasn't Cali paradise and Phoenix hell? Why are you back in my town?

I'd think a baller like you spending $80 for a trashcan and $800 for a vacuum cleaner had lots saved up.

If only you had the energy to interview for a new job while you were working up there like everyone else, was too much for you.

I paid for rent for about 1.5 months without a job. I'm not paying $1500+/month for nothing. I got almost zero interviews in August even though I applied to plenty of jobs.

I was also expecting to have a car but that was totaled about ten days before I moved out. That ruined my plans. :/

I think I know why this thread is so long. It's like watching a car crash. You can't just look away and half the time you just want to laugh at your excuses and antics. You've shown you can take risks but helpful advice from many here is beyond you. You'll learn eventually.

Update?

Why? Why would you revive this dead thread? Some things are better off dead, like spiders, bad ideas, and this thread.

Having said that, Trident should run for president. Isn't that what most screw ups do? Become a politician? Or a mortician? Oh what's the difference? Either case you're working with the brain dead.

Also, indeed's job search functionality is currently broken. The "With none of these words" is completely broken. It doesn't do anything now. Great...

If he actually did get that job he would have taken up Zeze on that $200 offer and provide proof.

Came in here to repeat what others have been saying about helpdesk. You couldn't be more wrong about helpdesk not being a good way to start. "Helpdesk" is broad, the fact that you worked at "a helpdesk" and *it* did not have opportunities to your liking don't mean no helpdesk jobs have relevant opportunities for you.

Just in the case of where I work, I see countless examples of people that started at the same shitty frontline tech support role and all moved into new better roles all over the company. Management, business analysis, network specialists, architects and network design, software development, project management, it goes on and on and on. I've definitely worked at places where it wasn't like this. But you won't discover the good places if you don't try. The longer you go without any work history, even unrelated work history, the worse it looks to any hiring manager. I think that point was already beaten to death in this thread too.

Having any job is better than no job. Everyone else looks for better jobs at the same time as having an existing job, and it works out fine. Hell, even at work we have tier2 positions that are barely more than a helpdesk role in practice and some are earning over $100k doing that.

The first half of this thread was pretty entertaining, but now it's just sad.

I have him on ignore, so I don't know what offer you're talking about. :\
