President had a 'good' speech. Republican response was absolutely painful to listen to.

She kept it short, a little over 10 minutes. I was in and out for a bit but it didn't seem like she did much more than tell her story and express some very broad ideas ("We'll defend against cyberattacks", "We'll protect against executive overreach"). I wasn't expecting much but... I was expecting more than this.

[Edit] Her proposals/ideas:
"Keystone Jobs Bills"
Iron out loopholes and lower rates
More trade with Europe and the Pacific
Comprehensive Plan to defeat ISIS
Improved benefits for Veterans
Repealing/Replacing ACA
Promote solutions to prevent cyber attacks
Prevent Nuclear-Iran
Protect Life (more attempts to defeat abortion)

Haven't found it from a fast search live but the official site she didn't look hot at all.

Maybe have the wrong woman I'd think from memory....

I humbly apologize.
Yes.... THAT was in fact our Joni Ernst.
Every one of her TV ads as well as her debate performances were scripted EXACTLY the same.
I had to check my DVR to make sure i wasn't replaying one of her old ads.

I think what she wanted all along was that life long US Senate pension, the perks of calling herself an US senator, and more red dresses.

Stepford Ville is alive and well. And Joni pulled her plug and escaped.
So, I humbly apologize.
What else can I say?

She did slip once in an appearance and supported second amendment remedies. Didn't answer too many press questions after that.

I watched one minute of that and the Sarah Palin overload was off the scale.

She can not even pronounce Washington right with that silly grin on her face...

The fact she's even an elected official atm is pretty scarey in it's own right.

President? No way.

Only iOwa farmers (wearing plastic sacks over their shoes) would vote for her.
Everyone else stayed home.
And here we are..... Good grief Matilda.

Just imagine you are a bull, a well hung bull, and that "smile" approaches you with those castrating snippers.
Thank God we are not bulls on her farm.

Very few right-wing responses on here to the speech so far...are they waiting for Fox to tell them what to say?

George Will called her a "star" LOL!!!....if Romney wins the nomination, he should pick her as his running mate...it'd be McCain-Palin part two.

Overall....a good speech. A lot of generalities but that comes with most political speeches. I'll say this, aside from the veto threats, it came off as less partisan driven than what I expected. Hopefully that message and delivery will follow with some results from both sides of the aisle.

They're waiting for Fox/RNC to tell them what to say...

I don't swear allegiance to either party as I try to take what's best from both sides of the coin. Compromise used to be somewhat of the norm in this country but that's long gone. Its no wonder why this country is so divided when I read statements like that over and over. It's tiresome and indicative of why this country remains so polarized. That's the real state of the union.

Obama did a good job...he's very good at speeches and framing the debate...albeit dishonestly imo. Joni Ernst was a train wreck in my opinion as well...reading the script...no genuine passion or direct response to many of Obama's points. Republicans are such dumb asses.

Do tell what debate he framed dishonestly.

Compromise ended imho, when reps & senators started running home every weekend to keep up fundraising for their next election. They used to stay in Washington and went to dinner and drinks together (where many of the "deals/compromises were made in the old days) Now, you can't get them to hang out together at all for fear of being labeled RINOs or DINOs.

Limited terms would go a long way....
