Never seen a college football game? I'm sure they do it during other sports too...
Nobody in the world watches college sports. That's as lame as watching high school sports.
Anyway, no I have never seen an advertisement for electrical engineering. All of the ads on TV are for fake programs:

Read the whole thing... pretty sad.

I tutored a pre-calculus college student last year, he said he was from a small town in Louisiana and was terrible at math. I remember at some point, I was stunned when he told me .05 x 1000 = .00005 and not 50. I thought he was trolling me till I saw he was actually serious.

The American education system overall is a joke. 50% of Silicon Valley is foreign born, the H1B visa is really what's powering this country, boosting it up from the bottom of the cesspool, and now we have people saying we need to stop giving these H1B's. Lmfao.

It's pretty easy to tell which ones are fake. Real schools or real school programs don't advertise.

Real schools advertise bullshit programs like woman studies or whatever. Have you ever seen a TV commercial or radio commercial for electrical engineering? How about mechanical engineering? How about med school? Does Yale advertise?

Have you ever watched a college sporting event? I have seen many colleges advertise their particular programs, including biosciences, engineering and other difficult disciplines. Many magazines, particularly when US News or others come out with their annual rankings, have ads from high-profile schools.

Yale has a 17 minute advertisement on Youtube, using news anchor Brian Williams.

No, not really

University of Phoenix is big coorp diploma milling at the collegiate level. They have their name on a freaking NFL stadium.

They are not really in the business of education.

Theres no such thing as a business of education. Its either a business, or education, but not both.
And for reference, MOST colleges out there are about the business. They dont give a shit if you learn or not, just make sure that fucking check is turned in before the semester starts.
Thats why I'm still amazed employers take college degrees so seriously. All it means is the kid was willing to grind away for a few years. Theres no guarantee he remembered anything from any one class.

No, you simply aren't reading.

some of their programs are accredited: want a nursing degree? fine.

want to get a BS or MA in any kind of Engineering or IT field--well, if you want it accredited by those fields, then don't go to UoP.

You keep on harping on about engineering degrees which UoP doesn't offer. The closest they get is an IT degree with a concentration in software engineering. No school gets an accreditation from ABET for a "concentration".

Univ. of Phoenix is unnecessarily getting a bad rep because of baseless internet bandwagon and snowball effect.

It's an accredited school, it's a real degree. Some here say crap like "I'll never hire anyone that went there." etc. What a stupid thing to say.

<-- Never went to UoP.

Don't care. If I saw someone put UoP on their resume, I'd call them in for an interview then laugh in their face and ask them if they are retarded.

F UoP. Don't know what the story is today, but they were a diploma mill not too long ago.

And this wont help the reputation of homeschooling since they are working off of a law designed to support home schoolers.

I think I see part of the problem.
We use Abeka textbooks which are written in a Christian perspective. There is no TAKS testing requirement for graduation.

Ghandi said it best: truth is one, paths are many. If something is real, then it shouldn't have a "perspective" like that. For example: gravity. Christians say things fall down. Muslims say things fall down. Jews say things fall down. Atheists say things fall down. It's real, so all of the above groups say the same or similar things about it. If a book has a "christian perspective" and it disagrees with the stuff everyone else agrees on, then it's probably wrong.

group A - evolution is real
group B - evolution is real
group C - evolution is real
group D - evolution is a conspiracy between groups A,B, and C <--- this is probably wrong

But here’s the kicker. For many community colleges, you don’t need a diploma to get in, they are open admission schools and you can enroll by taking a placement test.

Then big question is:
Can you get into an accredited college w/out a diploma at say, age 10 by having your parents help you beat the placement test? And then could you transfer from that CC into a 4 year, completely skipping high school at age 12?!

If so, then everything is bigger in Texas, including the Fail.

what school did you go to?

the thought of you having anything to do with the hiring process and to criticize their education is very frighting.

texas has 1 big application that is used to apply to a lot of schools, you are supposed to put what you've done, including whether you've graduated from high school or have a GED. and 4 year schools are going to want SAT and ACT scores from a CC transfer.

and yes, i suppose that if everything is done with distance learning and no in person testing happens, everyone could just cheat. but that's an issue with all distance learning.

I really hope you don't actually have a hand in hiring people.

There are loads of fully accredited online schools...UoP, Baker online, Colorado Technical, etc...sadly I finally have to get a degree to ever get a promotion (or raise) with my current employer again, since I travel frequently there's no way I can go to a traditional college so online is my only option, and I made damn sure all the ones I am looking at were fully accredited, and there's a shit load of them...and they're a shit ton more expensive than community colleges, there may have been some problems in the past but today they are just as valid an option as any other school

Send your kids to GrumpyMan Online High. For $200.00 I will print you a nice diploma, even with my phone number on it, so any college or work place can call me to verify that yes, they are indeed geniuses and should be accepted immediately.

Well, it'd be interesting if a 4 year didn't require SAT/ACT's from a CC. And they were accredited. Then you could just skip high school altogether, or just keep taking SATs until you got a semi-decent score (assuming the parents were decent at home schooling). Would be cool to graduate college at age 16.

So that's what, like, 0.00005x of the population then, right? That's not too bad.

:hmm:
