I got to 97% and got "The patch client was unable to retrieve the file [?Jse/art2.myp/b31862344f47e1b7] from the patch server. Please try the patch operation again in a short while."
I've been reading around and it seems like everyone who gets near finishing the patch is getting this or some other error. And if thats the case then theres no point in using mythics slow ass patcher right now.

It would not be fair to judge the game on the 10 minutes I have played, but my initial impressions are that this is not ready for prime-time and seems pretty empty and lifeless.
The classes, IMO, don't appeal to me at all. There isn't a class that I seen on the order side that struck me as "Yes, that is what I want to be" instead, it was more of "Oh... I guess this would be ok"
The chracter creation section is rather dull.. It is about on par with WoW... I expected a lot more customization, even DAOC had more customization than this. So, we are going to have many people looking the same in this game, which is a shame, IMO. Perhaps the armor will help with this.
Within the first 2-3 minutes I experienced my first texture glitches. This is the same thing that happened with Vanguard (do they use the same engine? - GameBryo?). So I had to close out and now I will try and play again...

But of course, it was to be expected. *sigh*

If I restart the patcher will it resume where it left off or just restart the entire dl?
Todays fiasco has shown how GOA are not a suitable company to be running a big MMORPG title in Europe. Europe is the biggest player base for games like these.
GOA decided to release their European Account Centre on the same day they planned to bring the Open Beta servers up. Even after a community uproar that this was a bad idea, nothing was changed.
Today, the account centre supposidly went live at 09:30 Western European time, and since then there has been nothing but problems.
People who signed up to the site in the past years, but were not lucky enough to get a spot in the recently ended Closed Beta, had to make a new account.
A list of errors:
- Timeout errors (414) while trying to sign up.
- Database connectivity errors
- Authentication Image not showing
- Email's not arriving / Email's being delayed for up to 3 hours
- Entered keys being invalid or expired.
This petition is to put a number on the actual amount of people not satisfied with this. Some of us paid to get into this Beta. EA and Mythic should atleast be made aware of how GOA is running things.
Sign if you feel this is unacceptable.
**** Update ******
- People with an account on war-europe.com before the Account Center went live didn't need to make a new one, and this was apparently a mistake. Glad they told us that after 7 hours of trying to create a 2nd account.

The game is lacking... something...
Maybe it's the walk/run speed that seems a little slow... or how combat/pvp is handled... or just the overall general look and feel of the game.
I should be having fun... but I find myself nodding off...![]()

There is a difference between the game feeling slow versus leveling slow.
Feeling slow means that the combat feels lethargic and boring, and it takes forever to get anywhere because of the slow running speed. I'm basically watching Dexter while leveling through War, and having no problems with it.
PVP/RVR is neat, but still just a slight evolution of what DAOC already had over 5 years ago (which a lot of us have already played...).
After it's all said and done, Warhammer will still do well, and be popular, because it pretty much plays and looks like WoW...
I should try some other classes to see how they play.

that's what i meant by slow as well, combat felt slow, except with my White Lion, and running seems slow.
what little pvp i did play felt exactly like wow's battlegrounds where you have to take the different "bases". I said from the beginning that it looked like a WoW clone, right down to the art style (maybe a little darker) but people said "no way, it's not". Well after playing it, I still say it's a WoW clone.
We have encountered serious problems with the authentication system since this morning, while the stability of the game servers, the speed of the patcher and the performance of the downloader have all been satisfactory. This issue, combined with an exceptional amount of traffic and a fault which was not identified during the extensive tests we ran on our platform has unfortunately limited the access to our servers to only a few of you along with our closed beta testers who had already been a part of the closed beta.
During the day, we have reconfigured authentication and database servers several times, both of which suffered under the huge number of simultaneous connections. The investigations and corrections we have done so far were essentially targeting the parts of the system which didn?t require a complete stop of the writing process in the database. This means we preferred to keep the database turned on during the day to let it work on the huge number of accounts that were in the process of being handled. This operation will continue through the night and when complete, we will shut down the database and reconfigure it.
If the operation works as anticipated, we can once again give you access to the account page and let you register your code for the open beta. We expect the whole maintenance to be finished late Monday morning.
Naturally, we will keep you informed of the development of this maintenance and we expect to give you an update mid-morning.
We thank you for your understanding at this very impatient time and we sincerely apologize for the situation.
.Dear all,
I rarely address players directly, but I wanted to write you as too few of you have been able to access the open beta today.
As my team explained in the previous post, although we have opened the servers and corrected numerous issues during the last 24 hours but we have not yet solved the issue of saturated Open Beta key activations that we?re currently experiencing. I am sincerely sorry for this, and I understand all the frustration the situation has spawned.
Today was a dark day. We expected a massive influx of players, but reality was even harsher.
I personally commit that we will communicate to you as clearly as possible on the resolution of these current issues. My goal is to give Warhammer Online the success it deserves. Be ensured that all GOA teams, with Mythic?s support, are working hard to bring you the best possible game experience.
Best regards,
Ghislaine Le Rhun
GOA CEO
