Check the fluid levels, ensure the oil is not dark brown/black. If so, then get it changed. If it still looks golden brownish then no need to change.
Ensure it's at its proper level as well.
Changing oil often, often depends on driving style. If your 1500 miles are mostly highway then no worries. 1500 miles under grueling city stop & go driving, then you prolly want to change it. Now 1500 miles of track use kepping your rpm's above 5000rpm and your motor under lots of stress and heat then for damn sure change your oil, and you should have done it 1000 miles ago
