It largely depends on the content of the image, and how much data you're willing to throw away. I tried resizing two shots to 1600x1200 and checking the compressed size in the Photoshop Save for Web plugin. JPEG High (60) quality level is the lowest that I find it's possible to go in the SFW dialog before one starts to notice significant JPEG artifacts even without zooming in. At this setting, one of my macro shots with large areas of bokeh was about 160KB. A landscape shot at the same size came to over 600KB.Originally posted by: Anubis

OK HERES WHAT IVE GOT SO FAR
- Anubis will host submissions
- winners will be based on viewer ratings and maybe a finial say from some judges
as a tie breaker
- 3 technical sections: DSLR/Film, Prosumer, and Point & Shoot
- 1 entry per photographer per artistic section
- Can use pictures that were previously taken, But new work is always welcome
~ Email Submissions to "contest@rootminus1.com" and include the section
you want it in and what level camera you shot it with
Camera Sections
DSLRs & Film SLR Scans
Prosumer Cameras f717, G5
Point & Shoots
5 artistic sections (so far)
Macro
Land & Seascapes
People
Abstract
Heavily Photoshoped Images
I'm thinking about ability sections as well like
n00b
armature
Pro like
this all depends on how many images we get, if its not that many then sections could start getting lumped together
