Just got home from the Raleigh event (I've got a little further to drive than the others apparently). All I can say is that it was awesome - no, I didn't get a CPU, but I did get a lot of free stuff. I must have given away 5 or 6 t-shirts and hats and still had a couple of shirts and a hat left over. Besides, what could possibly beat being at an event with none other than Anand himself making an appearance. For those that don't know, Raleigh is his home-town. I figure there must have been between 500-600 people at the main event. The VIP pre-event was great, too (although the information about it being at the Longbranch was incorrect). Awesome food (coconut shrimp, chicken quesadilla's, swedish meatballs, veggie's & dip and some sort of egg roll thing). The battle of the boxes was a classic. One contestant finished in 23 minutes, and the other ran into some complications that caused his system not to boot. The first one had an LED that didn't work, but the great guys at AMD decided that both had followed the correct procedures, and the problems were not their fault and awarded them both $2,500 each plus a CPU. How cool is that??
Ok, that's enough for now (12:35am is just too late for this)
Good luck to everyone going to future events!
