Oh man...

I don't wanna sound rude, but IMO, haven't you made enough threads on the various components in your future rig 😛?

Both PSUs (or however many you are looking at) are great; just pick one & be happy.

Being indecisive on everything doesn't get anyone anywhere...

BTW, care to link to your actual rig thread?

Or are there too many...

dont have an actual rig thread yet
and im making sure i get everything good. Really, the only weak points ive had is choosing a PSU and RAM, as neither is something i paid attention to at all in my last build, other then that i had everything sqaured away.

Plus its hard when im set on one thing, and then something new, better, or cheaper comes out, it adds a little craziness to my decision

It's close, made closer by the fact that you'll probably be happy with either. The Tagan is cheaper, the Seasonic is quieter and capable of delivering more power, both are capable of delivering more than enough power and running quiet enough to keep you happy.

Sometimes the least significant decisions are the hardest to make. Flip a coin? Oh, also:

ive read reviews on the seasonic, and im going to read reviews on the Powerstream, but none of them really test the amps long enough to justify their stability (come on, runing a computer thats Oc'ed on a full load for 1 minute isnt the same as running it for 24 hours...)
that, and so far all reviews say the same
"good PSU", that doesnt really help the decision either (there has to be faults in one and strengths in the other)
This is completely correct. Most PSU reviews suck. If the PSU doesn't blow up in their face, and if the software utility they are using to inaccurately measure voltages doesn't show any huge problems for about five minutes of load, the site gives it a good review.

Edit:
why?
In every review ive read, the two PSU's im deciding on (Seasonic and Tagan) had more stability then the Modstream, plus more amps, plus i dont want modular, to week IMO (judging from all the reviews ive read)
Shhhh. Usually if you ignore the crazy person they go away. At the very least, you don't have to spend time and effort actively responding to them.

This forum has always been good about clearing up misinformation. Although your method can be a good tactic. 😉

Looks like meatball will not be replying with a review of the aerocool that he's been pimping.

Bah. Thanks for the info.

I didn't have time to read the entire thread, but I caught most of it. I've been looking hard at the Antec NeoPower 480 and think it to be one of the best power supplies on the market, if a little low on wattage. I know you said you don't want to go modular, but what's not to like? It keeps your case neat and tidy and the extra wires don't obstruct airflow. Dual 12V rails and active PFC make it a bargain at under a hundred bucks. The OCZ is supposed to be really good too. Doesn't this website use a Powerstream 520 for all of it's tests?!?!

What's the choice?

Well, it will come as a huge shock, and major overkill (definatly) to most of you, but the power supply that i chose (and its final, as i just placed my order with newegg) is a..............

.

.......................... PC Power and Cooling 510W SLI psu.

I know, i know, burn me at the stake, blah blah, but when i finally saw the budget laid out in front of me, and what i could get and not get, it came down to the Seasonic SLI and the PC P & C (the 600W powerstream was a choice for 2 minutes, then i realized it was only $20 less then a PCP&C, sooooo)

either way, its finally over.

Ill be making a new thread in a few days here, once i see what i have left to order for my second batch (today was an order of $1000, the next order will be $600, so i have some pricing to do)

Thanks all

yea, quite honestly, i wasnt expecting to get anything else, but once i had the prices and final price of my order in front of me, i saw i had room for a little more (haha, a little more) power, so i went back and re looked at all the power supplies, and it came down between an Enermax noisetaker, the Seasonic SLI, the Tagan (it stayed in the fight for a while) and the PC P & C, but i just had to go for the best, so PCP&C it was.

nah, i was just kidding waffles, i went with the Tagan, just for you

haha, like id spend $130 more for the PCP&C, i realized the Tagan would do just fine.......🙂

Just to ask one more time, the Tagan will be enough of a power supply, even if i upgrade to a dual SLI setup (like 7800's)?

Orginally posted by: BigCoolJesusThe tagan wasnt the best for me, and im gonna scratch the PC Power and Cooling off the list, as its just a bit to high of a price

Try Epower Xscale EP-470MP then. It passes the stress test at tom's hardware guide:

Xscale 470MP is about $80 in retail. Epower is also running $20 mail-in rebate through their resellers:

Seasonic S12 and Enermax Coolergiant also passed the stress test.

sticking with the Tagan, it has better amps anyways

just wanted to know that if i ever do do a SLI configuration will it handle it?

well i just sent out the money order (when i told the lady it was for $999, she looked shocked as if she had just seen jesus himself)

so its official, the Tagan is what i got.

Hope it will do me good (give me some input waffles......)
