Mockery is part of being president.
Bush was relentlessly mocked and compared to a chimp all the time. I know, I was one of the people doing it.
I don't see anything about this story which screams racism to me, as these same sort of people would've definitely done this with a guy in a Clinton mask. And everyone reading this knows that's true.
This could, however, be a pretty good argument for going back to all white guys as president. Why? Because criticism and skepticism of those in power is crucial to our system of government functioning. We will become something much more sinister if we get into a situation where the president cannot be questioned or taken to task, for whatever reason. Inspires too much adoration in too many people, is considered a sacred cow, whatever...
It would appear, based on Obama and a million other pieces of evidence, that current American society is constitutionally incapable of criticizing minorities without that criticism being mindlessly branded as "racism" or "sexism" or "homophobia" (which, don't get me wrong, sometimes it actually is... about 5% of the time it's claimed to be, that is) - a lot of white people aren't even able to begin the appropriate thought processes and analysis of actions taken by Obama, Eric Holder, Jesse Jackson, etc... because they are deified to a degree in their minds. MLK is a good example, he is treated like Jesus Part 2.
That's a toxic situation.
If Hillary gets elected, will all criticism of the president be sexist? Yep, a lot of people will paint it that way.
Btw I'm not saying Rodeo clowns in masks are comparable to exposés in credible publications, or something. I'm just saying that a society which freezes out one will be freezing out the other, and we've seen a lot of both.
I'm being a bit tongue in cheek about the "go back to only white guys" thing. Just making a point by saying that this is yet another downside of diversity... people are so damned sensitive about it, and so many people will blindly follow someone because they're "representing our (insert minority) group" - and this was true with JFK too, btw.
My family are Irish Catholic and they were dangling from JFK's nuts back then, and later the entire Kennedy clan... like you wouldn't believe. Mindless obedience and blind, starry-eyed emotional loyalty. Because he "was one of us, in the white house" but that's not conducive to good governance. To have people voting as a racial/religious/gender bloc and then being unable to see flaws in that person's governance. As they say, power corrupts... and if you know that criticism of you is chilled by an atmosphere of 1984 thought crime bullshit... it's going to inspire you, whether you realize it or not, to abuse your power.
