wait until your married for a few years..... you will welcome that time in front of the tv/computer playing those games.......

especially when the wife is pregnant.. just hunker down with your headphones and start shooting!!

I can't imagine me at 30+ waiting in line at Best Buy or the local EB games for the latest Doom of HalfLife game

Yea, I know what you mean. I'm 19, and ever since around May I've stopped playing videogames. I played Halo 2 a little bit with some friends but that was pretty much it. The other day I bought the new GBA Zelda game, because Zelda games were always my favorite, and I played that for a while. I used to play videogames so much when I was younger, and now I think that there's more productive things to do in life.

Just out of curiosity....

How many of those posting here who are "too old for gaming"....still watch TV?

Seems to me gaming - at least, interacting with an artificial environment - is substantially more 'grown up' than watching TV is. Maybe I'm just crazy...

I can't remeber the last time I turned on the TV (I lied: It was to watch the last Top gear before christmas).

My gaming has been two hours on Doom3.

I've spent around £150 on games last week to try and rekindle my lost spirit.

Doom 3
Half Life 2
Vietcong: First Alpha
Delta Force: Black Hawk down
Colin Mcrae 2005

I've only played Doom3 (even though the rest are installed). I spend most of my time with my Motorbikes

I watch about an hour a week of TV. I usually hang out with friends or browse ATOT. I know it isn't that much more productive, but I feel it's better than playing videogames.

Your age is not relevant to your behavior. The moment you realize that you'll have matured immensely.

And you will have grown older.

I know people who are 45 and are playing games like GTA III.... Age isn't really a factor, just how you are that is a factor. You can be 34 and live with your parent's and have the maturity of a 14 year old while a kid who is 17 who makes a living (abandoned as a kid/ran away) and lives on his own. Everything is relative, you can't say I'm 23, time to stop gaming!

I do seriously have to wonder what inspires people to think they are "too old for...."

Is it a member of the opposite sex who looks down on it?

Peer pressure?

The way they were raised?

????

I mean, when you get right down to it, how is ANY form of entertainment more or less mature than anything else. Somebody a couple posts up mentioned motorbikes - for example, I find *that* hobby childish. I mean, you can get HURT! For teenagers (17,18,19)? Sure. But, c'mon, riding a motorbike after 24 just screams 'midlife crisis'.

At least, that's one opinion. I'm sure a case could be made for anything.

The number of 'entertainment' options that are really, REALLY clearly childish are pretty few and far between, IMHO. And almost everything has a more mature side to it - even playing games. Play more adult games! Play in teams where you have to cooperate, plan things out, and work together. Etc - do things in a more adult way!

(In any case, my preferred format of gaming is pen-and-paper wargames, and you'll never get me to believe that anyone is too old for THAT! Hell, I've confused more than a few hobby shop owners when I asked about wargames. Seems nobody under 60 or so plays them. Or, almost nobody.)

I'm 39, with wife and 16 month old daughter. I still have time for family, friends, work, fixing up our old house, and of course gaming! Its still a very relaxing activity after a busy day, theres nothing like booting up HL2 or Civ III as a way to unwind. I do not feel foolish or embarrassed to admit being a gamer, its what I do. :)

I can honestly say that I'm not into games as much as I used to be but i'm much older then you are.

My transition started when I was around 27 or so though

I just found there were many more things to enjoy in life and I couldn't keep wasting time on my computer playing games.
so now you just waste it on ATOT? :p

I'm 27 and married. I own a house. While I dont purchase every big game like I used to, I still spend plenty of time gaming. It's not looked down upon either. Heck, home gaming really took off when I was a lad. I played with my Atari and Trash 80 all the time, then came the original NES and it was love at first sight.

It doesn't matter how old you are... It matters how old you feel. I'm 30 but still feel like I'm in my low 20s. Don't do computer games any more but have my XBox running almost every night. Even funwhen we have our "Guys Night" and play XBox games all day at someone's house.

But I don't go crazy and camp out for new games and things like that. I wait until I can get them used. $50 for a game is just wya out of line.

You're probably old enough to get a job and quit ripping off BestBuy

I am about to turn 25 and my interest in gaming is still there. I may not have the stamina to play the long hours like I used to (the days of playing a whole season of Tecmo Bowl with buddies in 2 days with no rest are long gone), but i do play when i get the chance. Growing up and playing games have nothing to do with each other.

No such thing as being too old to game. I think people just get embarrassed that they still game after college. But think of the last time you were at a sports bar. How many guys were playing Golden Tee? That's still a video game and people are dropping millions of quarters in those games every year. I still play online multiplayer games with college friends as a way to keep in touch...it's much cheaper than flying across the country to visit everyone. We don't care if people laugh at us for playing games, we do it because it's fun.

I don't wait in line for games... never have. But I'm 37 and I still enjoy a good game. I was given Half Life 2 for Xmas and have been playing it for a week or so now.

My father bought Pong when it first came out and played that with us. Then he played Atari with us. He played regularly until he died in 1986.

You may not be a fanatic, but you can always enjoy a good game.

With Today's games like HL2 and Farcry you need a cranking system to play it and who do you think has the capital to buy a 500 video card? Hell I am 40 and I still game what's wrong with that? Before they had computer people would play monopoly or Euchre does that make them a bad person?

Believe me hardware manufacturers are targeting people that have cash not some snot nosed teenager unless they have parents who spoil them rotten.

I felt that way as I was entering my 20s... but after a few years, it became cool again... couldn't tell if it was just a period in my life or if it were a sign of times then...

I don't think I'll ever grow out of gaming. That said, I think I am still basically a big 29-yr old kid. My wife doesn't seem to mind - she watches Sex in the City and I play games. I watch the odd movie but my entertainment time is mainly on the computer and I'd say about... oh 1/3rd of it is gaming.

I have to keep playing, so if we ever have kids, I can still whip their ass in games.
