Is V8 (the drink) actually good for you with all that salt?

No, the daily alloted value %. You know when you look at a label and it has all the stuff in whatever you're consuming, and %'s of what you should take in on one day based on a 2000 calorie diet.

I like V8 personally. As long as it is kept cold. Warm V8 is pretty nasty. They mix rather well with Vodka too.

I knew what he meant to say, I was responding to what he did say. 🙂

Been drinking V8 lately (doesn't taste too bad after you drink a few and your taste buds get used to it), but it has really hight sodium content (i think its like 35% or something). Isn't that actually bad for you? That can lead to high blood pressure, if i am not mistaken.

Anyone drink this or are there other versions of it?

Salt is important for many of the body's functions. like all things it must be consumed in the proper amounts.
Gatorade has about as much, if not mroe salt than V8.

I am sure it cannot be good for you with all the salt, but it sure is tasty in a bloody mary

People are overly frightened of salt. Unless you already have high blood pressure, it's not that big a deal.

so over 1/3 of the bottle is sodium? That's more of a sludge than a drink.

[Bender] There was nothing wrong with that food! The salt level was 10% less than a lethal dose. [/Bender] 😀

Strawberry Bananna V8 Fusion is really good stuff. Been a nice addition to my diet instead of always drinking water after I cut out the sodas and fast food.

Is interesting trying to explain to my brother in law that there's a difference between sugars from fruits & veggies and sugar you get in candy though. It has too much sugar it can't be good for you.

I am in the water a lot, and often end up choking down tons of salt water mixed with seaweed and sand. Im fine, salt does not seem to be a problem.

Same reason I stopped drinking gatorade Ice (the sodium, not the taste)

The entire point of Gatorade is to get the salt that you sweat out back into you...

how often do you swallow the salt water ? this can't be good for you. And high blood pressure (aka hypertension) is a silent killer, and many people are not aware of it ("Im fine") until it's too late

..I buy cases of the 5.5 oz'ers. I drink one a day wit lunch. Gives me the full V8 taste but just 5.5 oz.

Its only 35% so I wouldn't worry unless the rest of your daily diet consists of foods with a good amount of sodium. If V8 is your only source of sodium, then it is definately not a problem.

I can only drink it if I add tons of tobasco sauce (more salt).

The irrational fear of salt just shows how one size fits all diet recommendations are absurd.

To reiterate: There is NO reason to avoid or limit sodium unless you have a condition that is aggravated by it (like high blood pressure).
