My post had plenty of relevance. As I already said I was trying to show that people don't just pick a school because they suck. I'd think 3-4 posts saying sh!t about me posting my life story(two sentences about why some people don't go for top tier) is a bit much and worthy of a flame. I went personal because you did insult me by saying Undergrad in Alabama sucks.

He said it doesn't reflect the nature of the people though.

I think saying the entire State of Alabama's undergrad system sucks and you HAVE to go out of state isn't the same as saying hi instead of hello.

Then you get all uppity again because of his opinion.

And here's my perspective. Someone asks about Troy State. One person says Troy State sucks... few posts about Troy State and Alabama as a whole. Then comes Alabama's undergrad program as a whole. Then I step in and call that person an asshole, a prick, etc. Then that person and you starts saying I was typing out of my life story(which was not true; there is no way anyone can say 2 sentences is a life story)which was MEANT to be inflammatory. Then more posts of the same until I step back in with my comment about you sucking each other off(i.e. both of you will stand by the other regardless and are biased). After that more insults and unreasonableness until we get to this point.

I don't believe that my previously rescinded comment warranted such an abrasive and personal attack. Saying 'AL sucks' doesn't mean that you should reply back with 'fvck u ahole, u prick'...Is it wrong to say AL sucks? Sure. But it doesn't warrant such an offensive reply.

Is that not your opinion that it doesn't warrant such a reply? If you said NY sucks don't you think New Yorkers would cuss you out? What if you went to South Boston and said Irish people and Southies suck. Would they take it as an accident and not verbally acost you? I doubt it. You make a comment like that and you have to expect something back. It's life.

I never attacked his sexual orientation. I explain this for the 5th time in 30 minutes, but saying someone sucks another person off has nothing to do with sexual orientation. It means you suck up to them. It's a cliche statement that says nothing about someone's preference. You're barking up the wrong tree by accusing me of being a homophone. And I did make a counter-argument directly below my insults. Ad-hom doesn't mean an argument is invalid.

It sounds like an attack on sexual orientation. I'm sure that if you said that to most people, they would assume the same.

I'm not accusing you of being a homosexual hater - I'm fine with it, too. However, the tone of you using it was insulting.

Again, you were the first to bring it to a personal level. You need to be more civilized.

Interesting, but I've always heard people use sucking someone off as a way to say they are stuck up someone's ass or that they worship the person. It's meant to convey that they are biased to that person and that they suck up to them. There is no homosexual innuendo behind it. Anyway, I don't think a verbal insult means I'm not civilized. I didn't exactly fly to Boston and cook you and eat you did I?

Well then that would have solved part of the problem, but the insults were still continued in that very post.

Intention has nothing to do with perspective. I've gotten plenty of PMs and comments from people who thought I was insulting them and I wasn't intending to. Does that mean their feelings weren't valid because I didn't mean to? If I have no intention of hitting you with my car driving 60mph does that mean I'm not liable? No, and no.

Perspective differs from intent in a major way. Why do you think some people get upset over something that you think is crap, but I'll bet you'd the same about something that bothers you. Everyone has thinks that aggravate them incessantly. Cracking on Alabama is one of those things to me; especially when it says ANY school in Alabama sucks. Yeah, that's personal to me because I attend undergrad in Alabama. I'm not asking anyone to agree with me. I'm saying that's my perspective.

That's your opinion, and I doubt any civilized(which is an open ended idea anyway) person would say that intention 100% absolves someone of their comments. Yes, and what we're all saying is that your perspective on this is illogical and not common. You don't severely insult someone if they don't like your favorite baseball team or what school you went to.
