I don't think RB is thin this year. I feel that with the NFL rules going the way they have, WR have become much more valuable. Grab a RB in the first round then draft other positions before grabbing your second RB unless a can't miss is there.
RB
QB / WR (alternate between the two)
QB / WR

You can find a starting RB in the fifth that should post decent numbers (Gore, McFadden, Mathews and Bush were there as people were scrambling for a WR. Lacy and Miller were there but have yet to see how they pan out.). With the way the rules are going, I wound up with a top 5 RB and QB along with two top 8 WR in each league just about. You struggle at RB#2 unless you get lucky (McFadden in one league and Gore in the other). There are too many RBBC in the NFL to rely on someone after about 10 RB are gone.
I went RB-WR with my first two picks most of the time this year. In one league I even took an RB in the first round, then three straight WRs before taking a second RB (then again, it was PPR so WRs are more valuable).
Thing is, your argument could be taken both ways. The prevalence of RBBCs does mean there are fewer valuable RBs... but if there are fewer valuable RBs, it makes snagging the few that are valuable that much more important.
This is part of why I like PPR, or at least half PPR scoring. It makes those shifty pass-catching third down backs more valuable and doesn't shoehorn people into taking tons of RBs early in drafts. Joique Bell is a viable matchup play in PPR even when Bush is fully healthy. Sproles is pretty unimpressive in standard, but in PPR he can rack up the equivalent of a TD just in catches.
I'm really scratching my head this morning. Someone in our league dropped Olsen for Fleener... o_0 It's her first year playing, so I wonder if she just doesn't fully understand how the bye's work. Her other TE is Chandler. Not sure why she didn't just play him instead this coming week.
Here's hoping I can get Olsen off waivers (dropping Bennett), but there are a few ahead of me in waiver order.
Yes, why would anyone want to pick up a top 10 TE?
After the egg Bennett laid last week, I don't blame him for considering a change. Olsen has been consistent, at least.s
Bennett is currently the #4 TE. Yes, that is largely thanks to his 3 TDs, but still. He's been targeted nearly as much as Olsen and doesn't have a bye this week.
I think the problem this year with TE is there are so many decent-to-good options that it's hard to justify dropping anyone, and it's hard to make room for multiple TEs when you're so desperate for bench spots to stash RBs and WRs.
Wanna know who I don't get AT ALL? Kyle Rudolph. He has almost identical stats to Zach Miller (Seahawks), yet is owned in like 80% of leagues. He's crap and will get you 2 points unless he scores a TD, which he will do maybe every other week. You'll have no idea when he's going to lay an egg. Seriously, drop this guy for anyone else.
