Talk me out of starting the San Diego D/ST this week. They are on the road against Jacksonville and played well against the Colts last week.

It was a good roll of the dice before b/c MJD was hurt and they didn't have Blackmon, but now they have the threat of moving the ball through the air. The major reason to not play them is SD has the worst pass coverage in football and you know Blackmon will be open, and that's most likely with them trailing. Not a situation I would want to bet on.

Just wanted to look this up. He had a much better second half in 2011 than in 2012, but he still improved both years. May have something to do with his schedule in those years, I'm not sure.

2011, total yards in Sept-Oct: 462, 2.8 YPC, 1 TD
2011, total yards in Nov-Dec-Jan: 1003, 4.8 YPC, 3 TD

2012, total yards in Sept-Oct: 723, 4.5 YPC, 2 TD
2012, total yards in Nov-Dec: 752, 4.5 YPC, 4 TD

I even went back and checked his career splits:

Career, total yards in Sept-Oct: 3859, 4.3 YPC, 20 TD
Career, total yards in Nov-Dec-Jan: 5110, 4.9 YPC, 29 TD

So he's a definite bounce-back candidate. The things holding him back - his QB, Shonn Greene possibly stealing carries, his apparent lack of effort (seems more pronounced this year than in years past), and his lack of involvement in the passing game. In past years, he has often salvaged his fantasy stats by getting several catches per game. This year, he has just 11 catches for 96 yards, 49 of which came on a single broken play.

Yep, and he's not making anybody miss either. 5 MT's on the year is terrible, only Rice and BGE are worse. In addition, he's dead last among the top 24 RBs in yards after contact. Get rid of him.

In my work league a team traded Matt Forte for Jason Witten, Terrance Williams and Kenbrell Thompkins. What a terrible trade. And now the team with Forte has C.J. Spiller and Benjarvus Green-Ellis as his starting running backs.

I asked him why he did it, he said that he needed a TE and some WR depth bad. He is pretty new to fantasy football but I told him that next time he needs to shop a player as he could have gotten a much better deal.

Damn, that's a lopsided trade. It's hard enough to pull off 2-for-1 trades with other savvy fantasy players; 3-for-1s where all you're giving up is a junk heap is that much more difficult.

I offered Ray Rice + Keenan Allen for Forte and it got laughed off. Yeah, it was kinda trade rapey. On the other hand, that same guy offered Andre Johnson + Danny Amendola for my Vincent Jackson + Keenan Allen. As if I'd trade two solid, proven WRs for a guy who's always injured and a guy who doesn't ever catch touchdowns.

Rice is really the only weak link on my team. I also have Bush, Sproles, and handcuffs Pierce and J. Bell at RB, and my WRs are AJ Green, Garcon, V. Jackson, D. Moore, and K. Allen. Romo holding down the fort at QB.

I feel like I've spent hours analyzing everyone's rosters, trying to find their needs and who they might be willing to give up, but I just can't find anyone who would possibly want Ray Rice. Hoping he has a big week; maybe then I can sell him.

Yeah unfortunately the guy that set up the work league had no clue how to do it and everything is fvckin' stupid. There are no waiver rules (Pick up anyone you want anytime they are not locked), a roster position max, trades are INSTANT with no voting, scoring settings are completely wacky and we were forced to all auto draft.

The team that got Matt Forte knows this and has been constantly sending out lopsided trade offers, even some to me. He has gotten a couple people to bite but this one was just wrong. I posted a message to not take trades from that team and he is trying to take advantage of people new to fantasy football.

I feel your pain man. Everyone here initially slammed me for giving up Rice for Witten, luckily Rice had a decent day the week before and I could get a sucker to bite. If you read the rotoworld article yesterday, it's clear that Rice just isn't giving much effort (injury? apathy?) since Bernard Pierce has broken 2X many tackles with the same terrible OL. Unfortunately now most people know how horrible he is so he's hard to unload on his name alone anymore.

Last year was my first playing fantasy football, and this year is my first using free agent blind bidding.

It's absolutely the best way to do waivers. IMO, the ONLY way. Normal waivers are just stupid. They punish people who make lots of transactions and there's no way to give everyone a fair shot at picking up free agents. You can still get decent pickups if you're playing in a league with noobs, but if you're playing with a bunch of people who have been there before, FAAB is the only way to go.

I can't imagine how stupid it would be to have free agents only and no waivers. And forced autodraft? Kill me now.

Yeah all I do is wait until 2:00 AM Wednesday morning when everyone unlocks then pickup/drop whoever I want. That's how I got Kennan Allan and Nick Foles this week

^ dude's second year playing and he puts most of you other guys to shame

Neither should have been available at this point. In all of the other leagues I play in, Allen has been gone since the beginning of October (picked by you in one league I can note). I feel like I got lucky that I was able to grab him one league back on Oct 9th. By then he was long gone in the other leagues I'm in.

No.

Andre Brown is due back at the same time Wilson is expected back. Then you have Jacobs and Hillis. I see no reason to keep him.

Hillis, seriously?

I honestly do not understand why people are going out and grabbing Hillis. He has done nothing since that one good year with the Browns. It's like getting Austin Collie when he signed with the Pats. He's a depth player, nothing more.

There is nobody to pickup exept Keenan Allen and I'm not going to drop wilson for him - so I'll hold on to him for now

Keenan Allen is the #5 scoring WR (average points per game) from weeks 4-6, behind only Blackmon, Jeffery, Dez, and Welker.

Why wouldn't you pick him up?

If you need to stash an RB that will have upside a few weeks down the road, get Shane Vereen or something. He'll be back around the same time as Wilson and should do a better job once he is back.

Who else is on your team?

I honestly do not understand why people are going out and grabbing Hillis. He has done nothing since that one good year with the Browns. It's like getting Austin Collie when he signed with the Pats. He's a depth player, nothing more.

Close to nothing, he had a 100 yard game the last time he was given a significant amount of touches, week 16 last year versus the Colts on 15 carries. Like him or not, he's got a better YPC than someone Trent Richardson, though obviously stats aren't everything.

Hopefully no one is dropping anyone very good for Hillis, but there is some potential there. Just look at what Brandon Jacobs did last week. Plus Hillis isn't that old and at least has had a 1,000 yard rushing season in his career, so it's not like he's talentless. I agree, he's a depth player at this point and we probably won't see much of him at all, but I also would have said that about Cox and Jacobs entering this season.

It's a gamble, but looking at the state of running backs this year you could do worse. I picked him up, but if he isn't worked into the offense at all this week I can easily drop him for someone else. I always have one or two bench spots that are fluid from week to week no matter what.

Vereen isn't available.

I also have AFoster, picked up Jo Randle to sub for DeMurray, also on my team. I also have Chris Johnson and David Wilson. Not terrible at RB, had 2 top 10 RB's with Murray and Foster. Nobody is available on waivers, and I mean nobody.

I don't need to drop Wilson IMO, I have WR's too - BMarsh, Jordy Nelson, Roddie White, Hakeem Nicks and Pierre Garcon.

Only position I truly suck at is TE, where I only have Heath Miller now as I've cycled through and dropped everyone else I've had. Starting Miller the rest of the year since he's already had his bye - fuck it

But everything I've read says Brandon Jacobs is starting, so Hillis may not have those touches

Yeah, Hillis isn't likely to have a shot this week. I'm not recommending anyone go out and pick him up, but anything is possible. Jacobs could come out on a play after feeling his hamstring tighten and Hillis could go off and have a crazy game. Probably not going to happen. And then of course Wilson and Brown are coming back in a few weeks.

Bottom line is that no one should pick him up unless they've got the room or a poor player to drop. I'm certaintly not starting Hillis this week, but I do want to see if he does anything. One week tryout.
