People in NE are definitely complete jerks. It gets better the further away you get from Boston, but not much.

One thing I've noticed about people here in the Southwest is that pretty much all the girls here are bi and proud of it. It's weird/awesome.

In my 36 years I have lived or visited literally every part of the U.S. On average, people are the same everywhere you go. Only local custom, stereotypes, and preconceived notions separate us.

I think everywhere has their problems, and the south's are probably just overblown. Of course, if you dont jive with the political agenda of the majority, then you might think its a "bad" place to be. I'm sure the average Californian thinks Texas is hell on Earth just the same as a Texan thinks of California.

That being said, I'd have to say the northwest probably has the most easy-going population in the US. I've lived here all my life, but I've been to various parts of the country. I'm going to Tennessee this summer for 2 weeks... my family is from the south. Should give me better perspective.

I agree it's pretty nice up here, very mild winters on the coast, very laid back. I went to Yakima last weekend though, it was very weird, kind of like being in the desert or something. First part of the Northwest that didn't appeal to me.

Most of the eastern-wa basin area is actually arid, aka desert.

Ever been to the moses lake sand dunes? Great 4 wheeling action :D

The south can be pretty hot, or so I keep hearing. Also, the tendency is to be conservative. That might not sit right with you.

I read an article in the Sunday paper (S.F. Chronicle) about 3 weeks ago about the nuclear power generation scene in the US. I believe it said that it's been a very long time since any reactors have been approved and built, however that's about to change. In CA, where I live, it probably won't happen because of the strong environmental lobby, in spite of efforts by some politicians and industrial advocacy organizations. However, it appears that many plans for new reactors are going to be submitted at year's end, and a great many of these are for the South. Assuming this is the way things are going to transpire, this will only solidify (and for a long time to come) the conservative nature of much of southern politics.

I haven't been there except for a few days. I bet it is indeed very congenial at times, or can be.

Nope. I took I-5 from Seattle to Yakima, that's it. Once you hit Yakima county it's basically all crap from what I see, Yakima itself is kind of rundown. I was happy to get back to the Seattle area.

Aren't they mostly in the metro areas like atlanta though? Those places are kinda different.

The women are way hotter down here though. ;)
BTW, this is absolutely true.

It's best here along the gulf coast. Other than the hurricanes, this is the place to be in the South.

No, here in georgia, there are some heavily populated black areas. One that sticks out is hancock county. Link 10000 in the county and 7500+ are black. When I lived in PA, pretty much the blacks lived in the cities, you get out to the rual counties and you would be white country and hard pressed to find a black person.

Well, the people are nice down here....... to others of same skin color, but i can sure tell you racism is still kinda rampant.
