The south can be pretty hot, or so I keep hearing. Also, the tendency is to be conservative. That might not sit right with you.
I read an article in the Sunday paper (S.F. Chronicle) about 3 weeks ago about the nuclear power generation scene in the US. I believe it said that it's been a very long time since any reactors have been approved and built, however that's about to change. In CA, where I live, it probably won't happen because of the strong environmental lobby, in spite of efforts by some politicians and industrial advocacy organizations. However, it appears that many plans for new reactors are going to be submitted at year's end, and a great many of these are for the South. Assuming this is the way things are going to transpire, this will only solidify (and for a long time to come) the conservative nature of much of southern politics.
I haven't been there except for a few days. I bet it is indeed very congenial at times, or can be.
