is the Xbone hardware definitely inferior to the PS4?

Scared of PCs? Are you serious?

People are not "scared" of anything, they just don't have the patience to sit around all day building and rebuilding a finicky machine that provides great performance but requires tons of effort. There is nothing scary about having bigger priorities than installing the next nVidia or AMD graphics card or picking a certain socked motherboard with the idea that you will one day upgrade to some processor with more cache/cores.

There was a time in my life when I had no job and was happy to sit around and tinker with my $3500 P4 3.2 clocked to 4Ghz on water. That was senior year of high school , late 2003. Since then I have found bigger priorities and so has everyone except you.

Xbox1 is the real choice for people who don't masturbate over memory clock frequencies. If you love to geek out about an extra level of AA/AF then PS4 is for you. Different strokes for different folks (no pun intended).

Not that things were even difficult in 2003, but things have changed. I don't do any of this "tinkering" you whine about other than installing drivers. Pretty much everything is plug and play.

Don't defend something that is garbage and costs more. As an enthusiast you should behave objectively with your tech purchases. The Xbox is gigatrash and you should treat it as such.

And if you disagree, well... this website has "tech" in the title... maybe you should take your opinions to the XboxOne subreddit. They have North Korea style delusions going on that will cater to your purchasing decisions. I'm sure you'll feel at home there.

Everywhere else though... yeah, you're going to get reamed for saying a word in defence.

Seriously though. It's so bad... the PS4 is about as powerful as my PC currently is, a little stronger truth be told. Now that's respectable. :p

Wow, a lot of "practice what you preach" in this post. How do you even know the X1 is garbage? It isn't even out yet! How on earth are YOU being objective?

Exclusives are the primary reason to choose the console beyond real-life performance+hardware imo. Hell you can use a 360 controller on PS3 perfectly if you choose to, we'll probably have similar options on PS4/XB1 once again. Controller choice is a personal thing though. The D pad on the stock 360 controller is so bad that I use a Madcatz 360 controller. It's even better than the PS3 D-pad. Fwiw the analog sticks and triggers are supposedly a huge step up on DS4, though I never had a problem with the analogs/triggers on 360 or PS3.

LMAO D-Pad wtf are you talking about??? Nobody gives a dingleberry about your stupid D-Pad. Anybody who can argue that the DS3 or DS4 is anywhere close to as polished as the 360/1 controller is really living in sony lalaland.

MS perfected their controller, and sony has been playing catchup since the introduction of the Xbox. They aren't playing catchup very well though, and although the DS continues to more and more resemble the 360/1 controller it is still subject to massive re-design EVERY TIME a new PS comes out. And what does microsoft do? It sits pretty while Sony keeps trying to create a controller that is somehow capable of satisfying their teenage japanese clientele with microscopic hands and 6' tall americans. It ain't gonna happen, somebody loses and guess what it's not gonna be the Japanese.

Have some pride in your country! Do you hate freedom so much that you can't even acknowledge what a great accomplishment the Xbox is? Maybe you need you're hello kitty glasses checked.

Well most of your complaints are about online. I'm going to give it the comparison that the PS3 PSN is more like the Xbox's version of Live than the 360's.

Remember that Live didn't launch with the Xbox. It took them another year from the Xbox launch to get Live up and running. And when it was up and running, it was very much like PSN on PS3. Very sandboxed.

They were able to fix that on the 360 by designing the console around the Live experience. I believe Sony is doing the same thing with the PS4. Now that the infrastructure is in place, it's time to better integrate the experience in to the core of the console.

And, from the rumors, it appears that the One's XBL implementation is just not that great at this point.
http://www.craveonline.com/gaming/a...x-live-is-a-mess-that-will-take-months-to-fix

I've never owned a Sony console (well, I have a PSP), and I had preordered a PS4. The writing is on the wall, quite frankly. And as much as I love the franchises on the Xbox, and I'm really bummed that I'll miss out on Forza, it's just not the right choice for me this gen and I can't afford $1000 in gaming hardware to have both.

Wow. I guess it makes sense that with all the last minute changes that it would be a mess. If they don't get Live fixed, it will be the dominant gaming story of the holiday season, killing xbone sales even more.

We know the specifications and the price. The PS4 has better specifications and is cheaper. The only subjective thing that should enter into personal consideration is the exclusive titles.

As it stands the PS4 wins if we're being objective. Hurts doesn't it?

I may need to lay down before all the schadenfreude bowls me over. *swoons*

And you still have to install the OS, install the proper drivers, install the client to get the game, install the game, AND then hope whatever DRM the develop / publisher has decided to use works.

That doesn't happen on a console. You plug in the HDMI and the power cable, insert the disc and play. Simple as that.

Lol and you think I want to install drivers? Do you know how many times I install drivers on my Macbook Pro or Macbook Air?

Guess what nobody with a life wants to sit there and figure out what drivers they need to get 10fps more in CS:GO. We use products that work from the beginning. They are called Macs, you should try and check one out.

The OS is a requirement to even have a computer, so that point is moot. A lot of this is just whining. It's not hard to do any of this, nor is it hard to manage. I'm surprised you didn't point out having to hit the power switch instead of saying "Xbox on!".

I don't install drivers on my phone either but I do about as much on my phone as I would on a Mac anyway since they have about zero gaming support.

Why would it hurt? It doesn't matter to me who "wins" (wth?). If I have a 1000hp drag racer but only go the speed limit, what does all that power really provide me? It's how you use the hardware that matters.

And either way, you still can't be entirely subjective until both systems are out as you've been so willingly accusing.

The reality is MS screwed themselves over with their ridiculous DRM policy. They took what was rightfully the superior and more sought after console and got tons of geeks to jump ship because they were worried they wouldn't be able to make 30% back at gamestop.

Everyone is going to be in for a massive surprise when the XB1 ends up being vastly superior to the PS4 in content and implementation (because Sony Online... come on!). It's going to be Hi-Laryous

There is no "speed limit" in gaming though. Which is why BF4 on the PS4 looks better while running faster.

That's a vast exaggeration and seeing as Apple's market share continues to eat into the PC market it's becoming even less and less true.

Some of us actually do work on our computers. I know that might amaze you but a machine that doesn't get viruses or require obtuse ways of installing stuff is very appealing to people who don't have 70 hrs of free time a week.

There is a reason the dpad discussion comes up at all and also a reason your precious Microsoft redesigned the dpad for the xb1.

There is no national pride involved. I don't own an American made part in my PC aside from the os and maybe the mouse but I imagine Logitech has them made in China. It isn't about supporting your country anyway as Microsoft outsources much of their work overseas anyway. It is about buying what is the best option for your wants or needs.

The complexity is irrelevant. If it takes extra time, I'm not doing it.

And sorry but I'm not keeping score here. Did you think this was a contest of wit or something? I'm really sorry to inform you, but you lost long before you ever entered.

Ya and where was every single part in that computer invented and designed? Here in, in California.

It's great that you support these countries (they are very poor and do need your help) but the best innovators on earth come to America. Do you know what country invented nearly every single component in the modern computer? Yeah....

I never said it was hard. I said it was a lot more inconvenient than console gaming. The point is PC gaming is a lot more work than console gaming. Even after you get a game installed, you have to fiddle with the graphic settings to get the best IQ and performance. They've already done that for me on consoles (they just turn down everything =( ).

The BF4 argument is pretty funny, because it is like winning the Special Olympics. Both versions look garbage compared to my PC version. =)

If extra time is your concern, try playing Oblivion on a PC vs an Xbox. Hopefully the new consoles bring a nice speed increase in load times. The faster load times on PC alone go well past the time it takes to update drivers.

Contest of wit? I thought we were discussing hardware. Your intelligence or lack thereof will prove itself.

If you consider clicking "update" and "next" a few times... and changing settings in video preferences a big enough inconvenience to complain about it, that's obviously your choice. But don't try to make it seem like some monumental task by saying "a lot more work".

A dollar bill is worth a 100 times more than a penny, but it still isn't worth a whole lot more.
