Is the Colbert show really failing?

I went to his live show and I thought it was good. There's something about him though that makes it hard for people to relate to

James Corden was on Howard Stern and Stern was pressing the issue that Les Moonves ain't happy with Colbert and that Les wants "his boy" Corden who he adores and helped make him into a star take over for Colbert in a year if things don't improve with the new Exec Producer.

That would suck, b/c Colbert's show is my favorite Late Night show by a mile.

Corden only has his Car Karaoke schtick to make him the "it" boy in Late Night, but that'll run it's course.....it's a one trick pony. Colbert is a much better interviewer.

I love the show and SC's amazing wit but I don't think a late night, general audience show is his speed. I'd love to see him replace Wilmore in the post daily show slot - if it wouldn't be such a huge comedown for him.

I like this watered down family friendly mass appeal version of Colbert less than the character he portrayed.

I like Corden's show a lot but hate Carpool Karaoke. And now he has a rap-off or whatever it's called that's been making a regular appearance. Some of his stuff "panders" way too much to the kiddy demo that's most important. He books the best musical acts and I've discovered a few new groups/acts.

Colbert's gotten better since his first month. His "I'm changing it up and not a regular late night show" with CEOs peddling their wares was getting annoying. His musical guests... Huh?

I miss Craig Ferguson. What the hell kind of show has a pantomime horse and talking skeleton?

I remember when it was just Geoff. I stopped watching for a year, and shit seemed to spiral out of control....in the best way possible, when I returned to watching.

The CBS Censor, his make-up and hairstylist dancing, the "band" behind the curtain -- everyone has a band now, how could they not afford one for him?

it's bad.

not sure why, but it's bad. i thought he acted more restrained on the colbert show, and it helped the character; also, i'm more interested into P&N rather than entertainment, and he seems to favour the latter rather than the former.

the daily show has also gone down .. too much comedy, too little political commentary. it's really just the john oliver thing now that keeps me watching.

My wife and I watched his debut with his new format. We both agreed that it was the worst thing we have ever seen on TV. Haven't watched it since.

news flash - people like different things.

just because you like colbert more than jimmy fallon doesn't mean everyond does.

No doubt that Colbert is not doing any better than Letterman, so why keep him on in that Late Night job.

With Alex Trebek going to retire from hosting Jeopardy, which is the most challenging of game shows, they need a successor. I think that Colbert could be successful at that job. And it is the same network.

i agree, it's shocking.
john oliver, he's not bad, the show is funny, but he doesn't have the same gravitas .. the same seriousness of john stewart.
no idea why stewart would up n quit the show. i thought he was gonna move on to better things, maybe journalism, maybe a should like bill maher's, but instead it seems he's just gonna spend the rest of his life doing 2 chicks @ 1 time.

Jeopardy is ABC. Colbert is CBS. What?
