Is stopping a potential genocide in America's core interests?

That depends, do you want to take them home with you like Nancy Pelosi and her love of MS13 gang members? Airlift them to Texas?

So you want the Obama admin to stop a potential genocide halfway around the world. Does that mean you also want Obama to give amnesty to all the illegal immigrant children flooding over the borders to prevent a genocide on our doorstep (caused not by our inaction but by our direct actions as likely a huge majority of these children will die if returned to their home countries).

When has any country tried to stop a genocide? And keep in mind, I don't mean stopping a genocide as a result of something else.

The only example I can think of is Bosnia/Croatia.

I think it's moot though. At this point in time we should not tolerate Genocide.

So do tell, how do you propose stopping it without reoccupying Iraq?

We could kill ISIS forces. Hunt down their men, and leave Iraq once we've finished. But many people would call that a Genocide.

That's the conundrum. Pretty sure that the US is sick of Iraq by now. I heard that the UN has recognized it as Genocide, but whether it can cobble together some kind of military force together to address it is another matter. Perhaps NATO could provide Air Support and Intel to the Iraqi Military, at the very least. Except that Military seems too inept to even keep it's equipment while it runs away.

The obama administration will not commit to stopping a potential genocide in Iraq.

I wonder how history will judge the obama administrations inaction.

TH, we spent crap tons of our own money (well, China's) and poured blood from our own people over there to give the populace a chance at unf*cking themselves. If they can't be bothered and it's not important to them, and this is what they want, then so be it. You can't enact policies and teachings, have cultural norms, that are against modern western standards, and then expect the western countries to come bail you out from what you've allowed (and in many cases happily embraced/pushed for) to happen. The Iraqi's, and the Leadership they sent to be their representatives, chose...and now they're living with the consequences of their decisions.

Have you stopped for even a second to consider how to your "go kill the bad guys" suggestion would work in practice? Why dont you explain logistically how that would work, and how whatever gains were secured would be maintained after we left. I eagerly await your answer.

And I am sure its purely coincidentally that many of these children just happen to have relatives already living in the US...:hmm:

They could have stopped it with airstrikes on the ISIS convoy while they were en route to Iraq;but they didn't.
Now it's just terrible.
A lot of the blame can go to W. as well.
Hussein kept Iran and these jokers in check.
I don't mean Hussein Obama,I mean Saddam Hussein.

My take on Iraqi war:
Bushes buddy-buddy up with eastern people.
Bushes rip off eastern people.
Eastern people get mad and declare "Fatwa" not only on Bushes but Americans as well.
Bushes use Americans and their army against people they ripped off, ripping off and stealing the rights of Americans along the way.
Power vacuum in Iraq.Loss of freedom in America.

The Obama administration could have not sent weapons to Syria and trained God knows who and the should have bombed the shit out of all the American equipment that was seized by ISIS early on.

And yes W is to blame because he had the mission accomplished but the guy he picked to rebuild Iraq thought it would be a swell idea to fire the Iraqi army.

At any rate... U.S. Planes are in the air over Iraq at the moment. Maybe just an escort for a food drop... But we will see. Also ISIS is approaching a city that is U.S. Friendly with quite a few military advisors and state department personnel stationed there.

ISIS believes it's therapeutic to kill these people. As a supporter of human rights you'll have to help them.
