is RIM (blackberry) f'ing retarded?

on their newest phone (9700), they still have the '$' on its own key.
i have no doubt they've heard the complaints. why do they not give it to '.' instead, or something else more useful?

Blackberry is pissing me off. I have the Storm, and it is the biggest POS phone I've ever had. It freezes on me, restarts, the touchscreen is horrible.....but my biggest issue with it is that nothing is compatible with it. Etrade blackberry app....not compatible with the storm. Yahoo fantasy football app, not compatible with the storm.

My old blackberry (8800) was great. I loved the trackball and the feel of actual keys.

My next phone will be an iphone. I think I'm done with blackberry.

As it stands, all the punctuation is grouped together and above letters. Randomly moving one over and giving it its own key would probably tick just as many people off.

Just push the space bar twice for a period.

URLs, email addresses, namespaces?

When I hit the space for a URL, it automatically puts a .

oh 😱
but the twice for a period is still 2 keystrokes as opposed to 1 if they would dedicate it to a widely used char.

Kinda works the same way in e-mail addresses. After the @ symbol, any space is converted into a period.

Hrm 8830 has been the best phone I ever owned. Only killed one of them and it was my fault. I had it my pocket and a corner of a table jumped out and broke keys off the keyboard....

I type retardedly fast on my tour FOR IT BEING A PHONE. This isn't a computer, I'm quite happy with it's keyboard.

They follow the old school rule of: 2 spaces end a sentence.

Same with my Bold. I have no problem knocking out long e-mails, or 6-part texts in a matter of minutes with it. I start working for Verizon next month, so, thinking of ditching T-Mobile and signing up for Verizon with a Tour. Employee discounts will save my girlfriend and I a good deal of money each month.

After spending a few weeks with a blackberry tour, now that I'm back on the G1 (which has a dedicated period key) I've found myself still using the double-space-for-a-period shortcut. Considering I still use the old school two spaces after a sentence, it works seamlessly.

This. I was typing on my Tour the other day and my buddy was in awe of how fast I was puttin words down...he said it looked like they were "just appearing out of nowhere".

That aside, I got the tour the day it was released after having the storm for a while (and hating it). The first generation tours seem to have bad trackballs...I just got verizon to send me a free replacement tour so hopefully i won't have any problems with the replacement.

I just wish they'd stop putting caméras on the damn things so I could buy a new one. 🙁

How come? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I really don't understand what the camera has to do with it. 🙂

but sometimes you're not typing a sentence and it's not as intuitive.
say you're typing a release of software version 6.5.4.1.23.
it would be so much easier with a dedicated . key.
