<< what happened to Jews was worse, because it was an assault on a religion >>

WHAT?!?!?! don't you realize that the majority of those killed were actually homosexuals, communists and idealist?

it's much worse to persecute for an idea rather than a religion, the gay thing i can understand but that doesn't mean it is right. persecution of people because they have different ideas than what the government allows it flat out wrong, ideas such as equal rights for all including for jews
if people suddenly stopped seeing equal rights as a good thing the world would go to hell

i must make something clear though, there are 2 causes of descrimination: lack of understanding such as 'why does that person have black skin? he must be weird' and 2 - the government. the government causes a lot of hatred for races with such policies as 'you need to hire this man far east people', because the rest of the populous knows those people have a special advantage they will be descriminated against through hatred

usualy it is the most RACIST of people who will claim to be descriminated against... it's true

See, Czar the thing is that reolution was one sided, and it did not make mention of the Palestinian role in things (I believe they are refering to the 2nd reolution.)
Also, bigots must be put down in the harshest of terms to make it clear such things are not tolerated.

The UN did where id could at first, I have no doubt that actions will be taken against the terrorists when the forces get there, but right now the easiest and the most logical step is to stop the Israeli invasion. Fighting an army is easy compared to fighting terrorists.

soo true, but that site comes out as a bigot, which is sad because they have the information to fight bigots, but they are trying to much to make "jews" look good, though I was pleased when I read on their site that they applouded a FBI arrest on a jewish extremist in some group which I cant remember the name of jdf or something.

like 3 people posted in the time it took me to write that lol

anyway, i never said to actually FORGET Hitler or Stalin or Nepolian
i think you should remember them so we can tell if history is pretty close to repeating itself but seriously just STFU already. i don't know my nationality but i know im not a native indian so i could be bitching about how my great great great great great great great great great great great grandfather was a slave in Egypt because he was jewish
technicaly all Christians are part Jewish because Jesus was a Jew

there is no way of knowing if my great great...... grandfather was a slave in Egypt but hey i can still bitch about it can't I? no i can't now be quiet about Hitler already

my friend actually read a book on Hitler and found out that Hitler did not actually plan to kill all those jews, he just wanted to hurt them real bad. maybe lop off a leg and treat em like garbage but when Germany realized it was losing the war it started mass killing of the people in the camps so that the world would never find out what happened
i guess he didn't kill fast enough......we know what happened

look, the ADL tries its hardest, and it does admirably. They deal with anti-Semetism first and foremost because there are other major organizations to combat other forms of bigotry, but thats not really the case with anti-Semetism.
When the ADL was formed, it was the first such organization of its kind in the US, so it has a great deal to live up to.

By the way, it is the JDL, Jewish Defense League.

Pope John Paul II has missed an historic opportunity to bring closure to Christian responsibility for specific sins against the Jewish people over the past 2,000 years. We are saddened and disappointed that this pontiff, who has done so much to further Catholic-Jewish relations, stopped short in addressing specific Catholic wrongs against the Jewish people, especially the Holocaust.

why does the pope have to appologize to anyone about the holocaust?????????????????????!!!!!!!!!?????????????????

that is true ADL tries and according to their site they have been doing that for a very long time which is commendable. But they are to quick to brand people, calling everyone anti-semite and whatnot. That is just not a good way to fight racism. Racism(and other forms of hating groups) is mostly based on branding, people started to call black people awesome people to brand them, people call mexicans spicks(sp?) and so on, and branding just leads to racism, which this site does, unknowingly. When I first looked at that page a name of one member of this board, Rison, came up because he brands everyone who says anything against jews as anti-semite.

When you are fighting something like racism you must fight it with information and not fall in the same tracks as Racists go into, sadly ADL has gone this way :(

New York, NY, November 24, 1999?The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today called the Vatican?s pronouncements laying blame on Israel for tensions between Muslims and Christians in Nazareth "shocking and unjustified," saying it is Israel that has acted to mediate the controversy between Christians and Muslims. According to Vatican Spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls, "The decision of the Israeli government seems to lay the groundwork for future contrasts and tensions between the two religious communities, Christian and Islamic. I believe that political authorities in this case have a great responsibility, because instead of favoring unity, they create the foundation to foment division."

Passner, so anyone that says ANYTHING against jews is anti-semite? lol....

i don't find the adl.org site very admirable....it's actually quite disgusting...
it's trying to fight racism....but all it's doing is causing a separationg between races. Why fight only for a certain race, when we are all "equal?" i smell some hypocrisy in their cause.

Oh plus....what's up with all their crap headlines?!?!?!!?

Lets face it....99% of the people who view that site are jewish. Interesting how all their headlines would inevitably feed someone's hate....just a disgusting site.

anti-Semite literally means against Jews, so yes, if you say something AGAINST the Jewish people as a whole you are anti-Semetic.

while we are on this note... could you people tell me if the if the site I read most is biased? I will continue to read it but I would realy like to know if it is biased, because to me it isnt, and I´m sure some people think it is and I would love to know in what way it is biased.

http://www.commondreams.org

btw, much of the material there is originaly from other sources and just reposted there.

and last.. the best way I´v found to make you think if you are biased yourself is this site
http://cagle.slate.msn.com/
some of the cartoons there are just shocking to me while some are just too funny. Because I find some of them shocking makes me think of my own bias because there are plenty of people out there who find them funny.... anyway.. it was just a thought :)

i myself don't hate jews, i just find it very annoying how they won't shut up about the holocaust...

Do you get annoyed that some blacks do that about slavery? Both were bad things. They should be talked about and remembered so that it doesn't happen again.

i believe ALL history should be talked about....after all....history does repeat itself.

Events such as the holocaust, slavery, and imperialism should be remembered and analyzed so that we can prevent them from happening again.
All of the aforementioned have caused much anguish and pain in the hearts of those whom experienced them.

However...they should NOT be used as a method of self-pity, which they so often are.

What's been done has been done. We can only learn from our mistakes and hope to better our future.

Expecting people to appologize for things they weren't resposible for is DOWN RIGHT RIDICULOUS. Furthermore, expecting our generation to CONTINUE to remember it is also a bit of a stretch. We aren't asked to remember stalin's purges, manifest destiny (even worse "white mans burden"), the crusades, etc... I think with this new age of communication/entertainment, we are facing greedy people who are trying their best to make as much money they can off of something many people "THINK" they know about. In reality....i doubt many people know much about WWII and how it began/ended. Thus....we watch countless movies all talking about the tragedies the jews faced. THis gives some of us the impression that jews control the media. This may or may not be true...however we are almost certain it is.

Then there are organizations like the adl....who pretend to be fighting to end racism...but it seems like they are promoting it? I don't know...maybe it's how i interpreted it.

With all this....i am still confused. I know palestine isn't a country. And as long as the united states doesn't want it to be....it wont.

well blacks don't really piss me off about that complaining about slavery too much because the only show who gives them the time of day is 60 Minutes on CBS :)

they should really shut up about that, why should the Yankees compensate blacks for slavery? the Yankees are the ones who saved them!!!!

<< I don't know aboot Common Dream's reporting on things in Israel but that's an extremely left wing site. >>

thats true, it is a bit too far to the left, but I like how they are pretty much against everything and most of the time they give logical reasons for it, which help me make up my own mind.
