I recall a study where participants who imbibed MJ performed much better at video games. At the time I believe the evidence was dismissed as utter and total hogwash.

If a person tested positive for drugs, holding a sports position that demands otherwise, it makes sense for consequences to follow.

PSA: https://www.usada.org/athletes/substances/marijuana-faq/

A published paper that summarizes USADA's reasons for the ban: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3717337/pdf/nihms486945.pdf

One excerpt from the study:
Catlin and Murray[98] indicated that cannabis could be performance enhancing in sports that require greater concentration. Iven[99] noted that athletes use cannabis for relief of anxiety and stress, and perhaps to reduce muscle spasm. Saugy et al.[81] suggested that athletes were mainly motivated to use cannabis due to its effects on relaxation and well-being, promoting better sleep.

So, this goes along the lines of propranolol being banned because archers where using it to reduce small tremors in their arms and gaining an advantage in accuracy.

If a substance is being used for a specific health reason; a TUE (therapeutic use exemption) can be applied for and may be granted (usually with strict monitoring of serum or urine concentrations after completion of events).

So, whatever, they make the rules and it's always been up to the athletes and their coaches to know and stick to the rules; even if it sucks (and in this case it does).

I mean in terms of democracy it

Dont go looking for logic where there is none son.
I know I won't get an answer, they never do. But this one is a SERIOUS LEAP from point A to point B, and I am wondering how that is reconciled.

Maybe @interchange can help. From MJ to a 2bit criminal representing the country in the world's largest amateur event every 4 years, 8 if it's specific season.

It actually is the anti-doping agencies job to police recreational drug use. I dont want some 2bit criminal representing America on the world stage.
The use of the recreational drug in question was legal, therefore criminality not found.

It is not legal. Federal laws matter
Obviously you aren't interested in honest discussion of the thread topic (nor have you ever been), or addressing the valid points and/or questions posited by others.

You came in here to shit the thread with your idiocy. Fuck off.

I did address people's point by correcting their false statements. Federal laws apply regardless of what States do. Just because Biden or Garland decided to not prosecute them doesnt make it not a crime.

Surely you realize these two bit criminals are handling your money and shepherding your legal affairs, right?

Aren't those the four bit criminals? We could just refer to them as nibble criminals; or just nibbles :p

"Small govt conservative" demands that a federal nanny-state law supersede state law.

We get it that your core ideology is claiming to be for small govt while at the same time trying to use govt power to lock up as many "undesirables" as possible. However, the fact of the matter is that federal govt has no enforcement authority for activity that takes place entirely within a state, and state law in this case was that the activity was legal. Therefore, no criminality took place no matter how much your hate wants to see an "undesirable" locked up.
