You sure about that? I thought Kabini is tdp limited and somewhat bandwidth starved. A4-6300 have 65W TDP and dual channel memory which looks much better on paper.
a6-6400k have 192 VLIW4 cores and its almost 2 times faster than celeron:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/images/cpu/athlon-5350-sempron-3850/charts/3dmark-2.png

192 vs 128SP, 800vs 760Mhz, 1866 vs 1600Mhz memory.

Firestrike is AMDs best case. Just be the SP and frequency alone. The 6300 vs 6400K ends down around 400 score instead of 656.

Remember, the 6300 only got around 60-65% of the graphics performance of a 6400K. Not to mention the weak CPU in both the 6300 and 6400K.

The Celeron is simply the best choice.

This is the only review where IGP where tested, and still the G1820 is faster than a 5350, save yourselft the trouble and just avoid Kabini and BT on desktop, if you have a chance to get a cheap H81 and G1820 take it.

the a6-6400k is the best choice. best graphics performance and similar performance levels. Its a tad more expensive though but pair that with a cheap fm2 borad and you are A-OK!

Well then. Definetely go with A6-6400k. Going by the numbers you posted, it trashes haswell in anything igpu.

OC that badboy to 4.5 GHz and you have a winner for below $40 on ebay.

Some people have forum for budget APUs - Microcenter have free A6-6400K with Gigabyte GA-F2A55M total $50!

http://www.microcenter.com/product/403601/GA-F2A55M-HD2_Socket_FM2_A55_mATX_AMD_Motherboard

Now include $10 rebate so total price now $40 with free A6-6400K!!

yep it is but that doesnt matter now, you let the fudsters steer your decision instead of doing a little research.

Just curious :) it's difficult to find benchmarks that compare precise CPUs. A4-6300 was definitely slower and A6 6400k just has 200Mhz more, how is this a game changer?

I really don't know how MicroCenter can do these deals. You really can't beat $40 for a CPU/Motherboard combo -- especially for an Unlocked Richland..... Definitely a stronger setup than a Kabini.

I remember back when my local Fry's would have awesome combo deals like that. (eg, Athlon II x 2 and MSI uATX mobo for $50).

Now it is just a distant memory :(

P.S. Maybe if gaming on Linux (SteamOS or Steam on Ubuntu, etc) ever takes off we will see the return of these ultra budget combos at other retailers?

The Celeron will do fine, however anyone near a MicroCenter who just needs an office machine is lucky to have that $40-50 A6-6400K+motherboard combination.

This review has an interesting page that compare image quality :

http://www.bitsandchips.it/recensio...e-apu-da-35-euro-processori-per-htpc?start=10

As expected, lower image quality and disabled shaders in the celeron help to boost the image/s in games..

True. Intel's AA is not up to par.

But the difference is miniscule and unnoticeable unless you are comparing side by side. On that review when I shrink the image/blow the other image up for comparison I would not have noticed anything unless I was told so.

Those numbers look wrong. The A4 4000 is a 128SP part of a previous generation. And it should even be slower than the 6300 since its clocked lower and got slower memory. But it does show how crazy bad the Kabini is.

can you link me to the review you read that in, can't seem to find the hoops you jumped through to arrive at that conclusion.

Also dual channel memory and a higher clockspeed can help boost performance.

Or unless it was your own PC and displayed on your monitor.

Besides, image quality is also checked on Blue ray, same outcome.

The AMD 5150 or 5350 would have been fine but you let the Intel Nazi's brain wash you :(

Assuming the monitor is high quality enough to reproduce the difference.

Really, I'm not lying. I still can't notice any significant difference switching between the two. Maybe its just me.

I didn't know A4-4000 could be better.

Celeron G1840 provides more than enough graphics performance for The Sims 3 (heck, even Bay Trail can play it fine) and better CPU performance for the non-gaming tasks. It also provides much more interesting upgrade paths in the future. Having better CPU performance would help pushing a discrete GPU, you could also upgrade to a quad-core Core i5 / i7 if you ever need to do some real work. Some people take this kind of discussion too personally, IMHO you made the right choice. :)
