So what's the page count so far? Are you scanning every page or skipping ones with ads and such. I think I'd be buying a new scanner because mine would have died by now.

I scanned the pages in from my daughters coloring book about a week or so ago, not so she could re-color them on new paper, but so we could use a paint program to color them in too. Well, let me say, that was a lot of work and not something I'd want to do again. You have to adjust all the settings on the scanner for the optimal brightness so the image from the other side doesn't bleed through, etc etc. Ugh.

e-coloring? that would have been good for me, i could never keep it inside the lines.

have you tried saving the mostly text pages as png? probably get better quality and smaller size
