Trump actually believes most all of his bullshit. To Trump, his will is fact. He is the team. He is reality. Consider it in light of what he has done with his bogus claim about an income tax audit… He simply makes the claim and moves on. He believes his bullshit because knowing everything makes him intelligent. He has to defend it. If he were to be wrong then he would know that actually he is a dumbfuck. He has to believe his own bullshit.

So, when Trump says that the only way he can loose is if the election is rigged, he means it and will act on it if he can. He could refuse to accept results in some number of states and initiate legal action against them. Bogus as it may be it creates chaos. With sufficient chaos, and court cases pending, he could stop the process by preventing the Vice President from presenting the Electoral results to Congress. It creates the chaos he loves and destroys public confidence in our institutions. What we used to call political theater is now reality TV.

Trump will soon be a cornered animal. His bullshit is closing in on him and he has squandered, or pilfered, his campaign funds. There is a population of ‘rebels without a cause’ in the US following Trump... Folks who are ready to defend the cause as soon as someone tells them what the cause is.

I think "The election will be a trainwreck!" has about as much credibility as "Portland is burning!" It won't be that way, other than perhaps in the minds of Trump supporters. It may take a little longer to establish a final count, but they'll get it done. There's not much wiggle room when a candidate gets buried, either, which is what needs to happen with Trump and may well.

Perfect example. Accusations, outrage, angst. What is it getting you? How is it improving the situation? Do you think your anger is going to affect events?
My guess at this point is that Joe has it in the bag. Trump will make a lot of noise and wild threats and on January 20th will be escorted out of the White House by the SS. He'll then procede to spend the rest of his life telling the world that he had the greatest Presidency in the history of the US.

I don't think you truly understand the reach of the cult of Trump and even conspiracy theories like Q. There is literally a sizable part of Trump's base that would not give two flying shits if we had a legitimate election as long as Trump wins and they could stick it to the libs, and if Trump deteriorated too much, they'd go all in for Ivanka or one of the two idiot sons in for president. And there are Republicans in power that would be more than happy to give the rubes a figurehead while they pull the strings in the background. These people don't give a shit, it's a cult. Cults don't care about institutions if they potentially prevent their cult leader from ruling. Institutions are just inconveniences to them.

I watched Bill Maher last night. He seems obsessed with the "Trump will not leave" idea. Several times, when he started talking about this, the panelists interrupted him and stressed the fact that the first step is to be sure he is defeated decisively in the election. I could not agree more. We cannot let the talk of not leaving office distract us from the most important point, which is to get out the vote and defeat Trump.
I don't necessarly like or agree with Maher, however I agree with him, not because of who he is or what he said, but because Trump is one sick fuck, and there is nothing he will not do to remain in office, NOTHING!
  • He has made it clear that he will not leave unless there is a legitimate election.
  • He has made it clear that the upcoming election will not be a legitimate election.

You do the math.

So, for the last 2ish years myself and others have been submitting that the 2018 election was like the jab that split the GOP's lip. 2020 should be the cringeworthy liver shot that drops this orange puke like a bad habit. I've said in other threads I believe this turnout will be one for the record books.

Lo and behold, at this point in 2016 there were fewer than 10k early votes submitted. As of today, it's 860,000.

We're coming for you traitor.

No. I have every confidence that the election itself will be honest & legitimate. Thousands of local election boards all across the country will see to it, as always. The USPS people will do their best with the ballots. What Trump says about it is likely to be different but it won't matter because we intend to bury the bastard under turnout & I believe we will. It's already happening.

Considering that it seems that Trump and his supporters seem to want there to be chaos...
It's hard to say that it can be avoided imho

I agree, there has been lots of coverage of the processes, checks and balances, and transparency online. I can already see whose absentee ballots have been received, and if they were accepted as valid by going to the BOE website. The BOE will even attempt to contact the voter so they can remedy the rational behind the rejection, but of course the fucking republicans in the state house are trying pass a bill to block that also.

Do you think that will stop Trump from completely loosing his shit, sending a cadre of lawyers to sue every BOE in every county, threaten military or other federal armed response and the most dangerous, to incite to 30 - 40% of confederate flag waving, swastika wearing good people to violence. We have already seen it beginning, with protestors intimidating people in line at early voting. Will they literally attack polling stations on election day because of some comment from Trump. Will local and state police need to be out in force to protect polling places, election workers, and the BOE during the counting. Will states need to call up the NG, under the governors command to assist.

And Trump will be on at least FOX news screaming unfair while his thumbs ache from tweeting insults, accusation, and flat out fucking lies to incite violence.

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE HOW FUCKING RUTHLESS THIS BASTARD IS!

He is going to fight like a cornered cat. And he knows how to fight dirty.

I am not sure you can surmise anything from that. It is a hopeful sign, but it could also just be a sign that voters are mailing in ballots or going to the polls early because of Covid.

Since likely no one will watch this, here is a money quote which explains what is happening on the right:
OK, I'm gonna watch that later today. I did watch Michelle Obama's opening day address at the DNC off your link there a couple weeks ago (i.e. for the 2nd time), and it's every bit as poignant the 2nd time! Go Joe & Kamala!

It reinforces the idea that turnout will be huge. There aren't enough Trumpsters to overcome that.

Amazon is having Prime day two weeks before the election. What the hell are they thinking?

Better get those ballots in way before Oct. 13th.

If its close, it will be a train wreck. If Biden can pull off a substantial victory, then despite Trump's best efforts, it should be okay.

However, consider that we've already had a case of protestors trying to intimidate voters, its going to be ugly regardless.

On the topic of this thread, I'm going to again confidently assert that "no way can this year get any worse".

Harris County has a population of 4.5 million people. It stretches 1,777 square miles. Texas' Governor just ordered the county to shut down 11 of its 12 sites to drop off mail-in ballots.

just amazing

If you mail it in, you just mail it in. If you drop it off, there's only one place in each county where you need to show ID & sign a roster with poll watchers present. Because Texas.

Yup, 2020 is only 75% over. Could it get worse? Yes. Much worse? I honestly hate to think about the fact that the answer is again... yes.

Actually I think a train wreck would be a excellent outcome. Much like a burnt toast compares to the California wildfires.

I don't get the dictator for life thing. There are really Americans who want Trump to be permanent POTUS? Seriously? I haven't seen that anywhere but here in P&N, and no corroborating evidence of any kind, no links, no Twitter stuff, etc.

The Atlantic article I linked in the OP makes a clear case that Trump will never admit he was fairly defeated in the election, no matter what, just because of who he is, the nature of his personality disorder. He will/would claim it was rigged, that he actually would have won if this and that hadn't happened and he'll take that to his dying bed and never change his mind... maybe in a delirium he would, but it's doubtful.

His followers? Well, TBH, where I live they don't exist. There are people living 20 miles from me who are Trumpies, but in my town they either don't exist or don't dare come out of their closets.

I will say one thing, though. If Trump through machinations, intimidation, legal wrangles invalidating ballots, etc. etc. manages to steal the election the violence that will ensue will be an order of magnitude greater than the Trumpies will produce if Biden prevails.

Yup, one of my deplorable’s said it two or three weeks ago.
Trump for life then one of the kids after him. He was serious.
