I do not need to put people down to feel good. I am pretty happy with my life. My wife and I have no small kids at home and are free to live our life as we wish. We have 2 dozen chicks getting ready to go into the new chick house, and a new chicken house to build.

What I do not understand, how can obama be a champion of liberty, when he signed two different laws - the ndaa and the aca.

Every human being on the planet has the right to love and be loved. So, that's a human right, regardless of gender, it doesn't really matter what sexual orientation you have, that's ah uman right.

Also... things like freedom of religion and right to keep and bear arms aren't really fundamental human rights as fair as I'm concerned. Not in the same way that freedom from torture or oppression are.
 
I'm discovering that this topic is attempting to be a thought experiment.

Why are these human rights, and how do we define them? It could be a question of finding the specific legal definition, and wondering how that compares to a moral obligation.

It's really not as easy to answer as I had first expected.

If someone says they fall under "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness" then we must pause and wonder. We do restrict things, we do strip people of certain actions and "rights". So the real question is, why not these, how / why are these rights protected above others?

Are there legal terms to spell out this distinction?

Hello Beavis, HPV doesn't affect MONOGAMOUS couples, it affects people with lots of different sex partners. So are you against the right to have sex with many different sex partners? Is that where you are going with this thread?

This is easy to answer. Does the government have the right to tell men they can only marry men and women they can only marry women? If it can than the right to marry the gender of your choice isn't a human right.

You are not thinking deep enough.

Take the ndaa that obama signed, which allows the government to indefinitely detention US citizens without due process.

Take the acaa which forces US citizens to either buy health insurance or pay a fine.

Justice department kills US citizens without due process.

Can not smoke weed in the privacy of our own home.

Can not make whiskey in our own home.

All of those are justified for various reasons.

But if anyone treads on the rights of gays, then all hell breaks loose.

I just stated a fact, hpv is a health risk. States have the authority to pass laws to protect the health, welfare and safety of its citizens.
